At PND Borders we are looking for volunteers to join our team in the creche. Our creche has a homely feel and is safe, clean and welcoming. Our aim is for parents to feel confident in leaving their children in our care. The service is confidential, and we have children from birth to 5yrs. Creche sessions can be indoors with lots of toys, books and music to entertain. Or, if the weather is nice, we can with parents’ permission, go out for a walk in the nearby park or adjoined garden.

Based in Galashiels, we are open Wednesdays and Thursdays. We have morning and afternoon sessions running from 9-1pm and 2-4.30pm each day. Ideally, we like to keep continuity for the parents and children in the creche, supporting them with the same creche workers throughout their time in the creche.

Organisation aims and objectives

We offer help to mothers who are experiencing Post Natal Depression. Qualified art therapists and counsellors work with clients and their families and we also offer infant massage and rhyme time groups. We offer creche facilities and a friendly supportive atmosphere and our ail is to help families return to a happy stable life.

Restrictions

Experience required: Interested in the development of children. Good team player. Some experience of looking after children.
Travel details: We are situated at East.Lodge, Elm Row, Galashiels. Just off Church Square, the lodge house at the bottom of the drive up to Galashiels Academy.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Transport Costs either for public transport or mileage at 30p per mile on a monthly basis.
Training details: Induction around health and safety, child protection, policies and procedures. Working with Creche leader and other experienced volunteers. Training opportunities both internal and using external bodies e.g. Childminding Scheme Network. Also team sessions.
