WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP TRAIN THE HEALTH PROFESSIONALS OF THE FUTURE?
If the answer is yes then the Volunteer Programme in the Faculty of Health and Social Care needs your help!!

We are looking to recruit volunteers of all ages and from all backgrounds to play the role of a service user or assist with the practising of non-invasive procedures such as taking blood pressure.

Do you have, or do you live with someone who has, an existing health condition and would be willing to talk to the students about livng with it? If the answer is yes then you could become an “expert” patient.

All volunteers will receive a £20.00 gift voucher along with travel expenses and
refreshments.

As a volunteer you will receive an induction training session where you have the opportunity to meet other volunteers, receive a tour round the Clinical Skills Centre and find out a bit more about the programme.

We are also offering a training programme for volunteers which will take place throughout the year.

Expenses details: All volunteers will receive a £20.00 gift voucher and refreshments along with any relevant out of pocket travel expenses.
Training details: Relevant training and good support is provided to all volunteers. Includes induction, tour round the Clinical Skills Centre. We are also offering a training programme for volunteers which will take place throughout the year.

Volunteer Patients

Patient Partners are members of the public who assist in the practice and learning sessions by being available to speak to and be examined by our students. There is no prior training or experiences necessary to be selected to join the Programme, all we ask is that a Patient Partner be willing to help, reliable and most importantly have a good sense of humour! Patient Partners may role play a health problem from a scenario (short description of symptoms and how they have been affecting you, as well as a social and medical history) so that medical and dental students can practise interviewing patients away from the hussle and bussle of a busy hospital ward. Patient Partners may also be used for non-invasive procedures/examinations (for example, the taking of a blood pressure, listening to a patient’s lungs or having joints examined/put through normal movements). There is no prior training or experiences necessary, all we ask is that you are willing to help, reliable and most importantly have a good sense of humour! CPR Champion - Moray

As a CPR Champion you will support St John Scotland as part of their partnership with Save a Life for Scotland. You will get the opportunity to attend various events within your local area with other St John Scotland CPR Champions and CPR Leads ensuring that participants are equipped to undertake potentially lifesaving bystander CPR according to current policies, regulations and protocol. You will also be trained on demonstrating defibrillator usage to participants. Main tasks: - Deliver Bystander CPR awareness to various people at different events within your local area - Defibrillator Demonstration (training is provided)
