Then the Scottish SPCA would love to hear from you! We are calling upon the people of Scotland to join our army of fundraising & community engagement volunteers that we urgently need. We are Scotland’s emergency service for animals – and we do it all without any government funding. Right now, fundraising is more important than ever but we need support in every Scottish community – that is where our volunteers are vital! What does the role involve? The fundraising volunteer role can be tailored around your current lifestyle and commitments. With the support of the regional fundraising team, we can discuss what tasks and time commitment you are comfortable with You will be building relationships within your local community and with our existing volunteering team across Scotland Engaging with potential supporters and educating audiences on our vital work Attending stalls, events and collections in your local area to raise crucial funds and awareness of our services Identifying opportunities within your local area and working with the regional fundraising lead on making approaches for support Having fun, learning new skills, meeting new people and gaining confidence The role is open to anyone over the age of 16 and we welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. A wide range of opportunities are available and include: Fosterers – a spare room to care for a cat until a new home is found. All equipment and food etc provided. Home checkers – visiting prospective new cat owners. Fostering support and co ordination – helping fosterers and organising cat food distribution, equipment etc Equipment inventory – keeping an up to date list of all equipment and its location. Helpline – taking phone calls from the public. Food store coordinator – making sure fosterers have sufficient food of an appropriate type and caring for supplies. Kitten socialising – assisting fosterers to socialise young kittens to meeting different people and get used to them. TNR Trap, Neuter and Return – trapping feral cats, taking them to the vets to be neutered and then releasing them back to site. Involves learning about the colony and getting them used to being fed in a trap; arranging neutering with the vets; keeping the cats safe until fully recovered and able to rejoin the colony; arranging for kittens young enough to be socialised to be fostered. Transport – cats to vets etc; goods and equipment to where needed. Collecting and sorting donated goods. Storing donated goods, equipment and cat food. Fundraiser – to organise fundraising events. On line auctions – organise online auctions of donated goods. Stall helpers – assisting on stalls. Crafts – making crafts to sell. Grant applications – find and apply for appropriate grants and funding. Sunday tea staff – assisting at Sunday teas. Trustee – joining the trustees. Marketing. DIY – DIY skills to help maintain pens and equipment

This is a key role within our team as an unfunded rescue we rely on our events and donations to support the continued running of the charity. We are currently recruiting for volunteer(s) to join the board as a Trustee to lead our fundraising efforts and take responsibility for our fundraising/events and be involved in management activities. In addition the Trustee will sit on our Board to ensure the charity is run efficiently and in accordance with our constitution and purpose. The successful applicant will be expected to commit a minimum of 6-8 hours per week to their volunteering and trustee duties. Volunteer Role Summary You will be a passionate individual with experience in fundraising and/or event management and an interest in animal welfare. You will be organized with excellent communication skills, able to write engaging and professional appeals and be confident picking up the phone to follow-up on potential leads. You will be confident using social media platforms to research and promote our events. You will be confident working with a team of enthusiastic volunteers and ensuring individuals are completing actions as promised. You will be a team player, communicating and obtaining feedback from the trustees and our general manager. Volunteer Responsibilities • Investigate and bring creative ideas for fundraising to the table • Oversee and promote fundraising campaigns establishing the actions required for success of the event and where these are delegated, providing oversight. Bring feedback for each event back to the trustee team. • Liaise with General Manager to ensure appropriate staffing levels are available for events and that preparations are completed in a timely manner • Commit to organizing and hosting at least one local event per quarter – includes booking locations, advertising, coordinating with volunteers, venue set-up and promotion of the event. • Outreach to organisations for donations to be used at charity events for auctions, tombolas, prizes etc. • Able to visit Ayr site at least every 2 months (and prior to/ following events) to sort, collect and return event supplies. • Ensure updates and trackers are maintained on the charities online workspace Skills • IT competence (including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Publisher etc.) • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, • Fundraising/event experience preferred • Marketing experience (not critical but must be competent with social media) • Ability to operate within a small, passionate leadership team, • Ability to motivate and encourage volunteers.
