Urgent call for volunteers to regularly help at the charity shop or more sporadic support as needed. Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running and upkeep of each shop. On the shop floor you could be involved with providing excellent customer service, processing transactions on the tills, replenishing stock and putting up eye-catching displays to entice customers in. Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing. A few hours a week could make a difference. Grahams Kitchen takes place every Saturday evening between 1930-2100 in the Autowindscreen's forecourt under the Debenhams multistory carpark. We provide hot food, tea/coffee and ferllowship to those most in need. We normally see 40-70 guests on an average evening.. What does the Kitchen consist of? We have a stock of equipment/stores including a picnic table, Norwegian insulated container, large flasks, plates/bowls etc. We normally cook mince, pasta or whatever as well as fill flasks. This is taken to the Overgate just before 7.30 ready to start. So how can you help? Well we need people to: Cook the food Drive it to the Overgate Help serve it and chat to the clients who are there We have 5 teams who deliver the service so each team does 1 Saturday in 5. There is nothing to stop you doing more and likewise if you could not do every 5th Saturday that is fine as any help is much appreciated. If you would like to help we’d love to have you. I can honestly say I have never felt so fulfilled since I have been involved and consider myself to be very lucky to be able to take part.

Volunteers aged 16 and over are needed to help run the Coastwatch Beach Pavilion in Irvine. This is an interesting and worthwhile volunteering opportunity. No qualifications or experience required. Coastwatch is looking for volunteers aged 16 and over to help run the Beach Pavilion in Irvine. Your level of knowledge is immaterial. Our members have very different backgrounds and levels of knowledge, so whatever training you need to become a valued member of Coastwatch it will be geared to your experience (or lack of it). Instruction is available in any area of Coastwatch’s remit, be it watchkeeper or shopkeeper, or you might just want to volunteer to help run the charity. We have several retired volunteers who quite happily simply man the office for a few hours a week which helps keeps the Beach Pavilion open. If you are an electrician, plumber, roofer, painter or mechanic you can help us too. If you have promotional or artistic skills, are a web designer, have nursing skills, are a teacher or an accountant - we would love to hear from you. All your skills will be useful to us. Any training you wish to undertake will be geared to your own choices from the available courses which include first aid, using a radio or map reading. You might want to help with the running of the shop which is an important source of income to the charity. The choice is yours. After a settling in period, a training pack can be organised for you which will identify the skills you have, and those which you may wish to acquire. Not only will you learn how to approach new challenges in a competent and confident manner which are always useful when looking for paid employment, but other less obvious skills are always being learned through interaction with the public by using your first aid skills, patrolling the harbour or beach area, helping to organise events, or simply selling teas and coffees in our wee shop.

We have a great volunteer opportunity to join our excellent team of volunteers as a Cathedral Caretaker is responsible for the general upkeep and presentation of the Cathedral and associated properties. Duties will include: *Routine maintenance and heavier-duty cleaning, supporting the existing cleaning team when appropriate; *Conducting scheduled safety checks and tests in accordance with statutory requirements; *Being a responsible key-holder for emergency access to the buildings *Preparing venues and providing access to buildings for external-hire events; securing premises after the event; *Being the primary contact and providing access to buildings for contractors and officials visiting the Cathedral; *Ensuring all boilers / radiators are working efficiently and boilers are regularly inspected/serviced by a qualified tradesperson. *Setting of heating in accordance with Cathedral diary of events Relevant training and good support is provided to all volunteers, with all help greatly appreciated.
