Description

We’re excited to be opening our first ever charity shop and need your help! You’ll help to ensure everything runs smoothly and that every customer is welcomed and has a positive experience visiting us.

Your key duties will be:

  • providing excellent customer service.
  • processing cash and credit card sales and donations.
  • ensuring the shop is clean, tidy, well organised and fully stocked
  • displaying stock to look its best
  • providing visitors with information on GCHC fundraising and events.

Restrictions

Experience required: Excellent communication skills, friendly and approachable. - Enjoy working with the public - Confidence in cash handling. - Excellent customer care skills. - Proactive and helpful approach to visitors
Travel details: Buchanan Galleries, 220 Buchanan St, Glasgow G1 2FF We encourage public transport – the shop is only a short walk from Queen Street Station, Buchanan Street Underground, Buchanan Street Bus Station and a ten minute walk from Glasgow Central Station.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Expenses paid monthly, we’ll reimburse volunteers for the most cost effective form of transport from their home to the volunteer opportunity. Mileage is paid at 25p to the mile.
Training details: Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet

What might I be expected to do in this role? • Assisting in the day-to-day running of the CGX Charity Shop. • Recording sales and refunds, • Handling cash and card payments. • Assisting customers and providing excellent customer service. • Creating displays for visual merchandising. • Organising and pricing of stock. We value creativity so if you have a particular interest or passion (eg books) let us know and we can tailor the role to suit you! CGX have conducted and implemented a Covid-secure Risk Assessment and follow government guidelines. The safety and wellbeing of our volunteers and staff is our highest priority.

Retail - you will provide customer support, provide sales service and sort donations whilst working in a friendly atmosphere, providing an extremely useful and appreciated service to the Charity. We're looking for friendly people who can spare 2-3 hours a week to help us in our Bo'ness charity shop. If you want to gain new skills, meet new people or be part of a fantastic team who go the extra mile to help us make a difference then we would love to hear from you! Our shops are an important part of how we raise the funds we need to support our patients and their loved ones, and we need volunteers to help us continue to run our shops successfully. You will be helping us with all aspects of running the shop; sorting through bags of donations, processing items for sale and serving our customers on the till. If you have an eye for fashion and design then we would love you to help us create attractive window displays with seasonal and other items, so that our customers want to come in and browse. You will receive full training when you join us, so no previous retail experience is necessary. If you love working with others and would enjoy volunteering in a place where no two days are the same then this could be the opportunity for you.

As part of our team of volunteers, you will provide customer support, whilst working in a friendly atmosphere, providing an extremely useful and appreciated service to the charity. The role includes welcoming and assisting customers, customer service and sales service, stock control, sorting donations, hanging, and ticketing stock and helping to keep the shop clean and tidy.
