Stable Hand (Angus)

Description

This is an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of stable work - tacking, grooming, leading horses in the school or side walking with riders. Some riders need more assistance than others depending on their ability. It would be helpful if you have an outgoing personality and are able to adapt quickly to different situations. This is a wonderful rewarding opportunity for someone to help us continue to provide a high level of service for our clients. Volunteers will be invited for a short interview and tour of the centre. Training will be given on your commencement of volunteering.

Organisation aims and objectives

To establish a Riding Centre which will provide disabled people with the means to ride and/or carriage drive. To be a centre of excellence in the training of instructors and physiotherapists and helpers in working with disabled riders. To provide opportunities for training and competitive riding. To provide physiotherapy and hippotherapy for all riders who need it. To promote the use of riding as a means of increasing the quality of life for disabled people.

Restrictions

Experience required: An interest in horses would be a bonus also any experience of working with children or adults with disabilities.
Travel details: 1 Linlathen Grove, Dundee, DD5 3GL. If driving, turn off Arbroath Road (A92) at Clearwater Park estate. Nearest bus-stop in between Balgillo Road & Arbroath Road (Nos 14 & 39 ).

Outdoor Education Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

Trustee

Trustee Trustees are responsible for the governance of our Riding for the Disabled Group based at Reelig, Kirhill and to enable the group to go forward. Ideally you will have experience and keen interest in horses, with a significant understanding of the therapeutic benefits that come from being around them. It would be good if you also had experience of working with young people, individuals with disabilities and health issues. We hope to see Highland RDA grow from strength to strength. A good communicator with strong organisational skills would be desirable. Meetings are held every 1-2 months. you will be invited to attend 2 meetings before committing to volunteer. Youth Volunteers

Murton Trust is a registered charity and Murton Farm, Tea Room and Nature Reserve is also a popular visitor attraction based 2 miles outside of Forfar, Angus and our volunteer programme is for anyone aged 14 and over. We have many young volunteers who help at weekends and in the holidays when they can. Are you 14-18yrs with a few hours to spare? Would you like to get involved in helping Murton Trust?
