1st Dufftown Scouts is in the process of registering as a SCIO. Leaders of Scout groups are not allowed to become Trustees so the group is looking for parents or members of the community to become Trustees of the new SCIO. The leaders handle the day to day running of the organisation and will carry on doing so. The Trustees will provide support and accountability as the organisation seeks grant funding to expand its activities.

We are looking for volunteers who can provide a strong foundation to help strengthen their communities by helping Care Experienced children and young people engage in activities to build their skills and confidence and to be included, understood, respected, and valued in their communities. The Group Work Support Volunteer role will work alongside our innovative and energetic East Lothian project team, supporting the delivery of the fortnightly East Lothian Champions Board groups. The group allows Care Experienced children and young people to build connections with others and provides a platform for them to raise their views and experiences to promote change. This role will involve interacting with young people aged 12-17 through supporting and leading on a variety of activities e.g. arts/crafts/sports/general youth work at our fortnightly sessions as well as at our National events that happen throughout the year. This role will help build connection and belonging for Care Experienced young people and provide a platform to allow them to influence positive change. Providing transport to young people to and from the fortnightly sessions is a key need for the group.

intandem is Scotland’s national mentoring programme, offering mentoring on a regular basis to children and young people involved in the care system, specifically those living at home (under a compulsory supervision order) or with extended family (kinship care). Children and young people become involved with the care system when parents struggle to navigate tough times. This could be chronic illness, mental health problems or a death in the family – all things that can make it harder to give children the best care and support. A consistent, caring mentoring relationship helps children and young people to develop positive wellbeing and resilience, giving them the foundation they need to build strong relationships in the future and overcome trauma experienced in the past. intandem is funded by Scottish Government and The Robertson Trust, and is managed by Inspiring Scotland. intandem works alongside 11 partner charities to train and match volunteer mentors with children and young people. This community-based approach also strengthens local communities by providing training and opportunities for volunteers to be part of young people’s lives and healthy development. Their vision is that all young people who are in care or on the edge of care have the resilience and confidence to succeed in life. Their Young Persons Forum “InVoice” provides a platform for young people to speak on the issues that affect them. THE ROLE: The main tasks of a Volunteer Mentor will be building a positive, trusting, supportive and secure relationship with children & young people aged 8 – 14 who are looked after at home. - Working in a person-centred way with young people - Providing opportunities for young people to participate in meaningful activities - Promote the wellbeing of every child through creative and fun approaches - Communicating and linking with the intandem mentor coordinator on a regular basis. - Working as part of a team as well as on your own.

Volunteering for Tweed Togs is worthwhile, fun and flexible. Becoming a Trustee for Tweed Togs can be an exciting and rewarding role! You help to ensure that Tweed Togs fulfills its duties and delivers on its vision, mission and values. The Trustees are responsible for the governance and direction of the charity, its finances, its activities and developing its aims, objectives and goals in line with its constitution and legal requirements. Trustees meetings are held 4-5 times a year at agreed date, times and venues. Min Hours Required: Approx 6 hours/week during school term times.
