Description

Could you help reduce the social isolation of an older person by becoming a volunteer driver? LinkLiving need drivers to take people to and from their social cafe at Larick Community Centre, Tayport. The cafe offers older people the chance to meet others for a chat over a cuppa. They also offer quizzes and a range of other activities which you are welcome to join.

You would be the first point of contact with LinkLiving members, getting to know them and building a positive relationship. The role involves:

  • collecting one of the members from their home and bringing them to the Community Centre for 10.30am
  • taking them home at the end of the session, 12.30pm (stay or leave in between as you wish)
  • talking to, and getting to know the members
  • raising any concerns regarding members’ wellbeing with the Project Worker
  • attending volunteer meetings and information sessions to help you with this role
  • making sure your car is road worthy, taxed and properly insured

Organisation aims and objectives

The Older Person's Service provides a variety of support including volunteer befrienders and paid staff who support older people in their own homes to reduce social isolation and loneliness. It provides support for social activities within the local community and practical support such as trips to local shops and medical appointments. It also hosts five Social Cafes per week where people aged 65+ can drop in for a bit of fun and a cuppa. These services are offered across Fife.

LinkLiving policy not to have volunteers under age 18
Experience required: You should have access to a car, appropriate insurance and a clean current driving licence. You will be friendly and approachable, dependable and trustworthy. An ability to maintain confidentiality is essential while understanding the need to share information/concerns with paid (Assistant) Project Workers as required.

Would you be willing to help people access essential services and social activities in Angus? Could you be a volunteer driver? We are looking for drivers who can help us provide a volunteer driver service to assist service users to access school, appointments, meetings and access community activities as requested by Voluntary Services. LinkLiving need drivers to take people to and from their social cafe at Rosyth Parkgate Community Centre. The cafe offers older people the chance to meet others for a chat over a cuppa. They also offer quizzes and a range of other activities. Your role would be the first point of contact with their members, getting to know them and building a positive relationship. This involves: - collecting one of the members from their home and bringing them to the Community Centre for 10.30am - taking them home at the end of the session, 12.30pm (stay or leave in between as you wish) - talking to, and getting to know the members - raising any concerns regarding members wellbeing with the Project Workers - attending volunteer meetings and information sessions to help you with this role - making sure your car is road worthy, taxed and properly insured. The cafe takes place on both a Wednesday and Friday in Rosyth, you can apply to volunteer for both days or select a preferred day

Driver for Community Tea Party

Isolation and Loneliness are on the rise especially with Older People in the Community. We are looking for friendly and caring people to help with our tea parties. Could you help drive one or two guests to tea parties? You will only be volunteering once a month, so this is perfect for fitting around your own availability and lifestyle. You will help drive the same one or two guests to the group and then stay for some refreshments and a good blether. Normally the tea party will last for about 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon and is hosted by other Volunteers in their home. It is the same local group you volunteer with so you can make some real connections to your community and the Older Guests. All training is remote, and you are supported by our team and Tea Party Co-ordinator in your role.

Volunteer Driver

We offer free transport to cancer patients and where possible their escort to all hospitals and clinics in Glasgow, Edinburgh and throughout Ayrshire. Patients are collected from their homes, accompanied to hospital and taken home again after treatment. This service is especially useful for patients who feel unwell, those living in rural areas, the elderly and parents taking their children for treatment. We also provide transport for the hospice and to appointments for all therapy sessions. We can only ensure to continue the service with the support of our volunteer drivers. If you can commit to a few hours of driving and waiting for patients every week or fortnight or every month, please consider volunteering with us. To safeguard both service users and drivers, we require all volunteers to be PVG checked and we do require volunteers to own a vehicle (MOT & insured) and have a clean valid driving license. We will reimburse mileage expenses for volunteers.
