Do you have a passion for our local community and a desire to share your skills with us? Do you live within our area of benefit? Would you like to help us to sustain this valuable community resource? Since taking ownership of "The Heart" , the previous Victoria primary school, in 2022, we have made leaps and bounds in transforming our vision for the building into reality. We are now recruiting for some new trustees to help our small dedicated team of staff and volunteers continue this work. Our vision is to turn The Heart into a sustainable place for inspiration, exploration and enjoyment where the aim is to enrich lives through active, inter-generational learning and discovery.

One full board meeting every two months, plus sub-committee meetings as necessary.

Restrictions

Experience required: Experience in Finance or HR would be particularly useful, but a background in business, charity management, building maintenance and/or fund-raising would also be very welcome.
Travel details: Victoria Primary School Newhaven, Edinburgh. Trustees should live locally.
Minimum age: 21

Support

Expenses details: No expenses.
Training details: New trustees will be given the opportunity to attend Board meetings as observers prior to committing to the role. Current board members will provide support and mentoring and an induction pack will be provided.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet

MISS (Miscarriage Information Support Service) is a registered charity. We are a miscarriage support service covering all of Scotland for anyone who has experienced baby loss. We are looking to recruit trustees to the MISS board who have a mix of skills and experience to bring to our existing board. This is to enhance our current board and any background is welcome including retail, HR or IT. Board meetings are held on a bi-monthly basis and virtually, therefore there is no preference to location or where you are based. All help makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated. The trustees hold Home-Start in trust for current and future beneficiaries by: • providing leadership and direction within the ethos of Home-Start • ensuring thethe organisation has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction • being responsible for the effective performance and management of the the organisation • ensuring the the organisation complies with legal and regulatory requirements, the objects of the the organisation, the governing documents including the Home-Start Handbook, the Home-Start Agreement and quality standards • securing and guarding the the organisation’s assets and taking care of their security, deployment and proper application • ensuring that the the organisation’s governance is of the highest possible standard • undertaking an ambassadorial role for the the organisation • appointing sub-committees and agreeing their terms of reference and membership.
