Bumps, Babies and Beyond Group Volunteer WESTHILL

Open up in the Centre, put out toys, welcome parents and carers, make tea/coffee, offer support and include new people, clear up and tidy up at end of session. This always works well when there is a wee team of volunteers, it is a great way to support parents. You don't have to be a parent to volunteer, but if you do have wee ones it is all done with them there and around them.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our vision is of a world in which no parent is isolated and all parents are supported to build a stronger society. Our charitable purposes is to: *offer information and support in pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. *campaign to improve maternity care and ensure better services and facilities for new parents. *give every parent the chance to make informed choices. *make sure that everyone has access to our services and activities. Locally, in Aberdeen City and the 'shire we provide support for parents and parents-to-be by being the local face of NCT. We run weekly groups, fundraising events and social events as well as a variety of training courses.

Restrictions

Experience required: Warm, welcoming, friendly person. Experience of babies, good listener.
Travel details: Group runs on a Friday morning in Westhill.

Become a Peer Mentor for Parents

Are you a parent in Scotland? Do you remember what it was like becoming a first time parent? The Why Not Trust are looking for volunteers to become Peer Mentors, providing support to soon to be or new care-experienced parents. We know it take a village to raise a child, but not everyone has the same support networks around them. We aim to create a judgment and stigma-free community of mentors and mentees where trusting one-to-one relationships can be established. What does a Peer Mentor do? • Chat with your mentee on a regular basis, roughly 4 hours per month • Encourage, empower and champion your mentee • Provide gentle guidance in relation to parenting • Engage with your mentee in a non judgemental, caring and supportive way Some of the many benefits our volunteers can expect: • Become part of a supportive and welcoming community • Get matched with a fellow parent you have something in common with • Meetings that fit your schedule – online or in person • Receive accredited mentor training • Get paid for your travel expenses and other expenses • Improve your own confidence as well as your mentees • Develop your communication and listening skills The Why Not? Friday Night Youth Club Volunteers

The Friday Youth club is a vital social club for all children in Garthdee. Bring your best attitude and come help us make Friday Youth Club something the kids won't forget! Your responsibilities will be: 1) To assist in the running of the youth programme. 2) To supervise young people and ensure general health & safety and rules of conduct. 3) To assist with necessary programme set-up and clean-up. 4) To facilitate and participate in games, activities and discussions with young people This is also a great opportunity to develop you customer services, communication and care skills. You will also gain experience working with children and make new friends! All volunteers are greatly appreciated and provided with excellent support. Volunteer Befriender

We're looking for an adult volunteer who will provide a supportive friendship for a socially isolated young person aged between 8 and 18 who lives in South Ayrshire. Ideally this will involve meeting with their young person every couple of weeks for a few hours, spending time together accessing local activities. This includes: • Be matched on a 1:1 basis with a young person. • Go on regular outings and activities with the young person. • Have the opportunity to participate in group outings/activities and also volunteer support sessions. • Keeping in touch with the Project about the young person’s achievements / growth and activities, and to receive ongoing support from the Bfriend team. • Open minded as we work with young people from a wide variety of backgrounds. • Following training, to be able to have empathy and understanding of some of the issues encountered by young people referred to the team. • Continuous focus on the needs of the young person who you are matched with. • Willing to participate in a broad range of activities mutually agreed with the young person. • To be a positive adult role model for the young person and, very importantly, to have FUN! • Have an awareness of and be able to adhere to Bfriend’s policies and procedures.

FRESH Volunteers

Fresh Community Wellness is a growing grassroots charity, registered Scottish Charity Number, SC051346. We operate out of Aberdeen city, working within a (S.I.M.D) high neighbourhood to create lasting change and build a legacy for the future. Predominantly in Seaton neighbourhoods and outdoors, we work with volunteers/residents, with a salutogenic approach to community wellness. To help with this we have great opportunities and need people to help out as volunteers for a range of roles including: *Food growing, gardeners, greenspace management, tidy ups volunteers. *Mentors, community engagement, events, entertainers (kids, adults, 55+). *Outdoors games & sports volunteers, building outdoor areas for residents (sheltered housing seating), health. *Artists/ Sculptors to begin on our Street Art & Design projects, and sculptures. *Admin, coordinators, team lead volunteers, advisors & support volunteers. *Drop-in café helpers, advisors, cooking assistants.
