We are looking for people who are interested in supporting young people in their journey towards adulthood where enthusiasm is more important than experience in this role.

We have a variety of roles within Rowlands for our Board and we are looking for new people who have a genuine interest in young people to join our team. We are looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds where no board experience is necessary, with enthusiasm being more important than experience. All that you would need to do is attend board meetings once a month.

Organisation aims and objectives

Rowlands – Selkirk Dry Bar Association is a youth café for the young people of Selkirk. Any young person from first year at high school until they are eighteen can become a member. Rowland’s is a young person drop in where young people can hang out in the café bar area, play pool, use the games consoles or access our computer suit in a safe environment supported by a team of adult volunteers. The main aim of Rowland’s is to give young people a safe place to go, hang out with their friends in a safe environment , keeping young people off the streets and a diversion from risk taking activities.

Experience required: We are looking for a committed individuals to serve on Rowlands board. The Board Member's responsibilities include participating in board meetings once a month . Enthusiasm is more important than experience in this role. You don’t need to have experience in working alongside young people. An open attitude to ideas and conversations as well as a sense of humour is essential. We are able to provide full training and support during your time with us.
