Come volunteer in our unique high street R:evolve retail shops as a Retail Assistant! R:evolve thrift + gift in Cambuslang is our social enterprise that aims to generate income for the rest of the project; stocking new, second hand, and vintage clothing and accessories, as well as reworked garments, textile crafts, and sustainable gifts. As part of a team of volunteers at your chosen location, you will provide customer service and engagement, general upkeep of the shops, and carry out duties requested by the Shops Supervisor. Don’t worry if you are unsure about how the shops operate, full training will be provided for all volunteering opportunities. Our visitor centre is getting ready for the new osprey and visitor season and we are looking for volunteers for one or more of the following roles: Guide in the Hide volunteer – This role is perfect for volunteers with enthusiasm for birds and a desire to communicate this to visitors, providing them with a quality bird watching experience in our viewing hides overlooking the loch Visitor Centre Volunteer – This is a front of house type role, meeting visitors, making them feel welcome and ensuring they have an enjoyable visit to our centre. There are also retail and membership aspects to the opportunity. Reserve Maintenance Volunteer – Help keep the path network and access to the centre clear and safe for visitors. A more practical volunteer opportunity with less visitor engagement aspects.

How would you like to be part of a charity with a difference? ‘Reusables’ is a charity shop run by Community Gift Exchange (CGX) where we believe everyone has a gift or skill to share. Little or no experience? All the better! CGX aims to equip people with the skills they need to go onto sustainable employment or further training (see also training details for further info). We want to help you realise your goals no matter how small or big! We value our Volunteers so much that we offer everyone who gives their time a free hearty, home-made lunch. Past and current volunteers particularly appreciate making new friends and being part of a genuinely inclusive community. The Reuseables shop operates on the ethos that all efforts should be made to save perfectly good items from going to waste. We would love you to be part of this effort! What might I be expected to do in this role? ● Organising stock into boxes and onto shelves by product type ● Picking out stock that would be a good fit for the Reusables shop ● Creating a buffer stock area to help the retail team stock the shop ● Possibility of moving stock to and from the shop We value creativity so if you have a particular interest or passion (eg books) let us know and we can tailor the role to suit you! Why not Volunteer at R:evolve Roots! Our sorting space team members are the foundation of our organisation. They work together in teams supported by R:evolve staff to sort and process our clothing and textile donations making sure that everything gets to the correct place within R:evolve. Joining the Sorting Space Team gives you first-look at all the donations we receive at the project – an added bonus! As a R:evolve Sorting Space Team Member you will: · Sort, steam, and prepare donations. · Identify items to be sold in our online shop, or sold at thrift + gift, or upcycled and repaired at our community workshops. · Prep clothing for events, displays, and photographing. · Sort, price, and package items to be sold in thrift + gift or at Wee Jinty’s Haberdashery · Carry out basic textile repair e.g., zip replacement, seam mending. (Only assigned to volunteers who feel comfortable doing so). · Follow organisation procedures and policies. · Attend occasional training refreshers and review meetings as required. · Friendly and enthusiastic. · Reliable and willing to commit to pre-agreed shifts. · Happy to work individually or with staff and other volunteers. · Confident in making decisions or able to ask others for help if needed. · Interest in clothing, fashion, retail or similar. · Interest in the R:evolve principles of swapping, sharing, reusing, mending, and upcycling or keen to learn more about these. · Interest in climate change and environmentally friendly behaviours or keen to learn more about these.
