We have an ever-growing Community Network of vegans just like you, who have a passion to volunteer and promote veganism where they live. Every month, our Network choose from a range of outreach tasks. These could include town centre stalls, writing to a councillor or MP, sharing our campaigns on social media or contacting local businesses. You're in control of how much or how little you do. We also provide our volunteers with leaflets, banners and workshops so that they are equipped to make the biggest impact possible. Every month, you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat. We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task. It's vital that we measure the impact that we are having, in terms of positive conversations and leaflets handed out. You can also give us ideas you have for future outreach tasks or campaigning. Many Organisers find a huge sense of satisfaction, improvement in self-esteem and enjoy the social side of volunteering in this role. You will also be responsible for welcoming new Advocates in your area. We will let you know when somebody new applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates, this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You'll also be the health and safety contact for your group. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support. As an Organiser, you will ensure any resources or actions undertaken are in line with our branding and messaging guidelines and make sure that Advocates understand this too.

Being an Advocate for veganism with The Vegan Society will mean communicating with people in your local community. You'll share the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. You will form part of a local group, headed up by a local Organiser. The Organiser will feed back your collective efforts to staff. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group, for vegan socialising and ideas sharing. You’ll stay in touch with the Organiser and bring your passion to tasks. Activities can range from staffing a stall to giving a talk at an employee event. It could also mean writing to a local newspaper or lobbying an MP. Messaging can differ every month. Part of our mission statement is to ensure people can remain vegan, so you might focus on getting more vegan options available in local businesses. Or within our Live Vegan for Less campaign, you may share cheap vegan recipes to help people with the cost of living. When acting as an Advocate, you will use The Vegan Society’s branding and messaging guidelines. Your local Organiser will guide you in doing this, as they hold physical resources and handbooks. You can report any issues and feedback you have to your Organiser. You can also contact staff if your Organiser isn't available or you have any problems.

As Treasurer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our finances, ensuring financial health, and supporting our mission to advocate, nurture and champion Black talent in the performing arts, screen and event sectors in Scotland. This voluntary role offers the chance to use your expertise without a significant time commitment. Key Responsibilities: High-Level Financial Oversight: Review financial reports and ensure the organisation’s financial stability. Board Communication: Keep the board informed about financial matters and reassure them of the organisation’s financial health. Budget Oversight: Provide occasional oversight and adjustments to budget models as needed. Flagging Issues: The treasurer should be capable of identifying and isolating financial issues, even if they are minor, and raising flags when necessary. What We’re Looking For: Experienced Professional: Ideally with a career background as a Financial Director or Financial Controller. Qualified Accountant: (Must be able to provide membership numbers for verification). Confident Communicator: Able to inspire confidence, provide reassurance and communicate financial matters clearly. Strategic Thinker: Someone who can provide high-level oversight and has a keen eye for detail. Familiarity with Charity Finance: Understanding of charity finance issues and governance, though specific software experience (e.g., SAGE) is not required. What’s in It for You? As an outreach and communications volunteer with Settled, you will promote Settled and its services within your local community. You will work closely with Chris Keppie, our Communications Manager, and his team. The role will require you to network with local community groups, third sector support services, local embassies or consulates, local authority statutory services, and any other group that is involved in supporting EU and Ukrainian citizens in the UK. The main purpose of the role is to expand the reach of Settled into communities across the UK to offer support to as many people as possible, particularly people who are ‘vulnerable’ or ‘hard to reach’ in any way. This will include building a network of positive relationships with local and national organisations operating in your area who will be able to refer/signpost to us and share our promotional materials; and with local media organisations (who will then liaise with Settled staff). It will also include researching and sharing to appropriate local social media groups. You will be a representative of Settled, have a detailed knowledge of the charity, its history, and the services we provide. This is not an advice role. Candidates will not require OISC accreditation and will not be permitted to give tailored immigration advice. Summary of duties: • Attend local community venues, engaging with potential service users and referring organisations, distributing Settled publications., and increasing sign up to our social media pages/groups and newsletter. • Attend appropriate local networks, forums, or meetings to promote the work of Settled. • Work with other communications staff and volunteers to populate a local digital asset map relevant to Settled and its work. • Assist with social media analytics to monitor what trends and patterns produce best engagement in local contexts. Role requirements: • Confidence and outgoing personality to attend local events and meetings, and to make 1:1 contact with potential referring or media local partners. • Ability to act as a professional and positive ambassador for Settled. • Access to a computer and internet. • Monthly time commitment can be flexible and is open to discussion. Volunteering commitment for a minimum of 6 months is preferred. This voluntary position is not paid, but reasonable travel costs will be reimbursed.
