Garden Club Volunteer

Hospitalfield Arts
Postcode: DD11 2NH
Get involved with Garden Club In 2021 Hospitalfield’s Walled Garden, designed by the horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett, opened to the public. The scheme was developed to reveal the unique horticultural history of the site at Hospitalfield, which has been tended as a garden for over 800 years. The garden and grounds at Hospitalfield are maintained, made fruitful and more beautiful with the fantastic support of our volunteers who meet regularly at Garden Club. Garden Club support the development of the garden from helping weed the gardens, sowing seeds, potting up plants and assisting with seasonal projects. Our next garden project is the development of the medicinal garden. The site at Hospitalfield has been populated since the 13th century when the monks who ran Arbroath Abbey established their hotel or hospital, here where we believe that they must have grown a medicinal garden and brewed potions as medicines to improve the health and wellbeing of those who they cared for. From January 2023 we are inviting a medicinal plant specialist to design the garden with Garden Club volunteers, Hospitalfield’s grounds keeping team and soon to be appointed Community Gardener. The new medicinal garden will be planted in a large area within the walled garden at Hospitalfield. As part of our upcoming Garden Club sessions we’ll be planning, preparing, and planting this new medicinal garden. Garden Club Volunteers meet regularly from 10am to 12pm on Fridays at Hospitalfield. We’re looking for volunteers to come along and get involved in the new medicinal garden at Hospitalfield. Resonate run various groups dependant on the skills individuals bring, from various art groups to chess club & gardening. They also provide meeting rooms for outside organisations. They have grown not only in size, resulting in a larger premises, but also their model of working. Many who come to Resonate Together start by saying they do not have any skills. This can be for so many reasons, and one of the core challenges being personal confidence. Over the last decade, they have listened, learned and experienced the incredible development of so many people - they know that ‘skills’ can be learned and we know that every individual that comes to Resonate Together has inner qualities that will benefit our community. Resonate Together's Customer Service Volunteer role includes meeting members, new and old. Good listening skills are a must, as well as of course, knowing your way round a kettle! As with any member of Resonate we welcome adults from all walks of life, as long as you have the skills and/or the experience (through work, volunteering or life) to take on the role. References will be taken. During your time with Resonate you may be interested in taking on a role requiring a PVG. Please do not hesitate to ask for further information on police checks.

Volunteers needed (various roles) to assist at large makers market event - fundraising for Erskine Veterans Charity

Erskine
Postcode: AB51 0BB
Event Makers Co. are a group of four final year RGU students who are fundraising for Erskine Veterans Charity. We are putting on a large makers market and workshop event and require a few volunteers to help the day run more smoothly! It is a pop-up event that aims to raise as much money as possible for Erskine, and raise awareness of the charity and their Forres Activity Centre project, which will support the large number of Veterans across the North East. The North East has a large number of Veterans, and the new activity centre will provide life-changing, and likely life-saving, support for our Veterans. Their existing activity centre in the Erskine's Veterans Village (near Paisley) has proven this. Erskine have been supporting our Veterans since 1916, and support over 1,000 Veterans across Scotland every year. Roles include: - Refreshment stand - Fundraising stand - Car parking attendants / giving directions - General assistants (floating) - Wearing the Erskine mascot costume! Similar events have attracted a few hundred people in the past. We're also happy to provide verification of volunteering hours if required for personal development, CV and so on. We are so grateful for any help in ensuring this event runs smoothly and helps us raise as much as we can for Erskine Veterans! We are fully backed by Erskine and RGU to host the event.
