Indoor Rabbit Foster Carer

Baby Blue Bee Bunnies
Postcode: ML11 0PN
Would you like to get involved in helping as many bunnies as possible? Would you like to learn lots about rabbit care and welfare and get lots of up to date training? You may fancy joining our team! We have a need for volunteers all across Scotland to help with a variety of tasks and roles. We have a team across Scotland and are always looking for like-minded people to get involved. Ethics and welfare is at the top of our priority list as a rescue, we are a vegan run non kill rescue. For this reason, we like all of our team to be interested in education, rabbit welfare and be caring for their own rabbits as best as possible to. As representatives of our team, our volunteers should be following the Scottish Government legislation and RWAF guidlines to care for their own rabbits which includes having them neutered, vaccinated and bonded as well as give them lots of space available 24/7. Ideally this role is best for those who don’t already have their own rabbits but if they do, they must be kept in a completely separate area and have been neutered and fully vaccinated. Our foster carers are absolutely priceless to helping us do what we do! Without foster carers we could not take in or help as many rabbits. It is our foster carers role to help prepare their rabbit/s for their forever home and help us find them that. Foster carers are provided with all of the equipment and set up needed to get started and support is always available 24/7. Foster carers must be able to collect their foster rabbits from the rescue and transport them back to us when they are being adopted. Holiday cover is always provided at the rescue for foster bunnies. You will foster various rabbits in that time, either a single or a bonded pair and then take away a new placement when that one gets adopted. The rabbit/s will be with you approx 1-8 months (pairs will take longer to find homes than the singles do). You will learn so much about rabbits doing this as you will be caring for rabbits with different personalities and learn a lot about handling and care needs of different bunnies. Foster caring involves: Looking after and caring for the rabbit/s in your care in accordance with our guidlines and recommendations. Providing us with regular updates on how the rabbit/s are doing along with photos and videos that we can share on social media to help them find a home. Getting support and advice from our foster care manager who is available to offer help and training. Being able to travel to the rescue and also to one of our vet partners for any emergency vet care the rabbit/s may need. - All of our rabbits are already ready for adoption when they go out to foster care, this means that they have already been neutered, fully vaccinated and health and behaviourally assessed therefore no routine vet visits are required.
