Childrens Hospices Across Scotland - Robin House
We always have lots of a variety of projects on the go to help our busy Supporter Care Team and ensure our Fundraising Office runs smoothly. This is where we make sure all donations are recorded and banked, quickly and accurately, and it’s where we thank our supporters for the incredible things they do. And we do lots more besides – there’s never a dull moment. As part of this important team, you will help us make sure CHAS can deliver vital services to children with a life-shortening condition across Scotland and to their families, too.
What activities could I be involved in?
Making sure our regular donors receive special deliveries, like their very own letter from the CHAS alphabet.
Managing supporter details for special upcoming events, like annual Christmas concerts
Sending out those very important thank you letters to our amazing supporters
Organising our stock of fundraising materials – t-shirts, bunting, badges and more - for the Community Fundraising team
How much time should I offer?
One half day per week, usually Thursday. The time commitment is flexible and you can discuss this with your volunteer manager.
Where is the opportunity based?
2nd Floor Buchanan Tower, Buchanan Business Park, Stepps, Glasgow, G33 6HZ
What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive?
It’s important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. You will be invited to complete a short core learning package that is tailored to your role. We are always developing new opportunities for volunteers to learn and offer a range of options to help you develop your skills and interests.
What are the benefits to me?
Learning new skills and making great use of your existing abilities
Getting more involved and making a real difference to the families of children with a life-shortening condition.
Adding to your cv and meeting new people.
What are the benefits to the children and families supported by CHAS?
Supporter Care volunteers are often the first point of contact for families and supporters, so a friendly, warm response at the end of the phone, or in person, can help to make a big difference to their overall experience of CHAS. Supporting the CHAS Fundraising Team with administrative tasks helps to ensure that paperwork is up to date and managed appropriately – all part of helping CHAS to raise as much money as possible to fund our services.
What else should I know?
Volunteers need to be aged 16 or over for this role.
CHAS is committed to providing a quality volunteering experience to all volunteers free from discrimination and prejudice. Ensuring that CHAS is an equal, diverse, and inclusive organisation improves the quality of care we provide, helps us reach more families and children, and maximises a wide variety of knowledge, experience and expertise.
We welcome volunteer applications from those who are refugees, asylum seekers, benefit claimants and those with a disability. We can provide more information on your eligibility to volunteer and any adjustments we can put in place to ensure your volunteering experience is a positive one.
