Our Media Volunteers are hugely important. Through photographs they record the journey of our Campers, capturing their achievements and the magic moments they experience whilst participating in Camp activities. Campers will be able to look back on these photos & reflect on how they have developed new skills & achieved things they never thought they were capable of. This is an essential stage of our Camp model ‘Therapeutic Recreation’ (please see website for more info) As Media Volunteer you will be photographing Campers as they perform a wide range of activities including Drama, Music, Arts/Crafts, Discovery, Sports & Games. You will then create a slideshow of the photos you have collected which will be displayed to all Campers at the end of the week. You will be fully briefed before Camp begins about what is required of you, & ongoing training & support is provided throughout Camp. This is an excellent opportunity for budding Photographers to gain experience in a dynamic environment & work with a reputable national organisation. For more info & a photo gallery (which gives a good taste of Camp life) please visit our website: www.otw.org.uk To be a Camp Recorder you do not have to be a professional Photographer, nor do you need experience of working with children as we welcome a diverse range of previous experience. You will however need your own camera. In return, as a Volunteer you will: •Participate in a unique & unforgettable experience. •Work for a brilliant cause with a reputable national org. •Meet fantastic new people/make friends

Camp Safeguarding Officer

Over The Wall
Postcode: PH2 9EG
Our Safeguarding Officers are an extremely important part of Camp as they act as ambassadors of our Safeguarding policy, helping to ensure the mutual protection of Campers/ Volunteers/Staff. You will often be the first port of call for Volunteers concerned the Safeguarding Policy has been breached, that Campers or Volunteers are potentially the victims of neglect or abuse, or any other queries surrounding Safeguarding issues. Your role would be to support the person who has reported concerns to you & also inform OTW staff of their disclosure. Whilst you will not be responsible for contacting the appropriate authorities to investigate concerns, you will be vital in ensuring the correct channels are made aware of any Safeguarding breaches. Throughout Camp you will need to be vigilant & observant to ensure Safeguarding procedures are in place & being followed. As with our ‘Team Mate’ volunteers you will also be allocated to a Camp team & complete the everyday Team Mate role. You will therefore be an essential part of implementing Therapeutic Recreation at Camp (see our website for more info.), helping to support/guide/inspire/empower our Campers to maximise their potential/increase confidence. Campers will be divided into teams based on their age groups of 8-10, 11-13, 13-15 & 15-17 years. You will build amazing 1-1 relationships with your team of Campers on a daily basis. In return, as a Volunteer you will: •Participate in a unique, unforgettable experience •Work for a brilliant cause with a reputable national organisation •Meet fantastic new people & make friends

Camp Activity Leader

Over The Wall
Postcode: PH2 9EG
Activity Leaders design and deliver activities in certain areas including Drama, Sports & Games, Discovery, Arts and Crafts or Music. The activity sessions are designed to create safe environments for the Campers to achieve their goals and reflect on their accomplishments. You will receive ongoing support from the Programme Coordinator and OTW staff. On average there are 4 sessions to design & deliver. Each session will need to be tailored to both the age group of the Campers (who are divided into groups of 8-10, 11-13, 13-15 and 15-17) & the varying Camper ability. All of our activities are designed within our model of Therapeutic Recreation (see our website for more info) and to be adaptable to all levels of ability and accessibility. Activity Leaders also help to design, prepare & deliver our Evening Programme. Our Evening Programme could be anything-from a Disco & Talent Show, to bespoke activities such as a Camp Festival, a Whale Hunt or Game Show evening. Activity Leaders will also be allocated a team at camp. Like our Team Mate volunteers, Activity Leaders support, guide, inspire & encourage our Campers to maximise their potential. One of the amazing aspects of being an Activity Leader is that you get to meet all of the Campers throughout the week, so even though you may spend less time with your allocated team, you build special relationships with Campers across the age groups. In return, you will: •Participate in a unique & unforgettable experience/Work for a brilliant cause with a reputable national organisation/Meet fantastic new people & make friends

Becoming a Safer Ageing volunteer may be just for you! Hourglass Scotland, part of the UK-wide charity, Hourglass (formerly Action on Elder Abuse) is dedicated to calling time on the harm, abuse and exploitation of older people. We aim to promote safer ageing and a fairer society for all older people. Volunteering roles include: • Providing one-to-one support to an older person in their own home, a community setting or over the phone • Hosting or assisting with coffee mornings or social events • Facilitating or assisting interest groups (e.g. crafts, photography, story-telling, local history, etc) Groups will be flexible according to your own interests/skills • Raising awareness of the work of Hourglass & issues relating to safer ageing and the abuse of older people • Hosting information stands or pop-up clinics at community venues and events We’re looking for people who are passionate about stopping abuse and empowering older people to live well and age safely; who understand issues affecting older people; who can demonstrate empathy, patience, sensitivity and resilience; and who can listen and support non-judgementally.
