ACE/Adventure Carrick are looking for a talented, motivated and enthusiastic digital-savvy person to volunteer to create new content for our Facebook and Instagram profiles. We want our audience to know who we are and what we can provide, and we need help to do it! If you don’t know, ACE/Adventure Carrick is an outdoor activities provider for locals and visitors. We do things like archery, axe-throwing, forest walks, coasteering, paddle boarding, kayaking and much more. Our social media platforms are one of the best ways to let people see all these exciting opportunities and learn how to book them. We're ideally looking for someone who lives locally as you will be required to spend some time at the centre. What we need We’re looking for someone who can provide about 5 hours per week (this is flexible) to work with our team on the following: • Create a social media plan to release new content on Facebook and Instagram on a frequent basis; • Create and curate social media posts for each platform; • Capture the occasional live event (subject to the correct permissions being in place); • Come up with new, innovative and creative approaches to showcasing our work to those both living in South Carrick and to the wider world; • Work closely with the CEO and wider ACE team. Species on the Edge is a partnership of NatureScot and seven conservation charities dedicated to improving the future of 37 of the rarest and most threatened species on Scotland’s coasts and islands. We want to include everyone in the fight to save nature and we need the knowledge, experiences, and innovation that the youth voice can bring. How can you help us? You’ll meet the other panel members through virtual online meetings, with a chance to join a spring residential. You’ll be supported in the development of your own local projects to help more young people to connect to nature. Comradeship Circles Technical Support Volunteers

The Comradeship Circles service aims to reduce loneliness by offering older members of the ex-service community the opportunity to enjoy regular group camaraderie by telephone. A Comradeship Circle will host typically six people on the same day and time each week to chat about a range of topics and interests over the phone. A Volunteer Facilitator or Supervisor will be on every call to encourage discussion and ensure the conversation flows. We are looking for Technical Support Volunteers who will ensure the smooth running of the Comradeship Circle by connecting veterans to the call, monitoring connection throughout the hour, and updating the contact management database. This role is home based and requires access to a laptop, headphones and the internet. Main tasks include dialling in the veterans and connecting them to the circle an updating the charity database. 1-2 hours per week at the same time each week (with some flexibility for cover) over a 6 month minimum period. This is a national programme which we have recently secured funding to deliver in the Aberdeen area. As a guide -6-month commitment – 1 hour weekly although this will be flexible and may fluctuate to meet mentor and mentee availability, this meeting would ideally be face to face however given the COVID situation many matches are virtual using email/telephone/video chat/WhatsApp. In the role you may be assisting a young person to identify personal goals and aims and support them to work towards these in a planned and thought through way. e.g building self-esteem, feeling more confident in social situations, expressing themselves effectively, recognising personal strengths. In other matches you might be working on softer outcomes such as helping them to develop life skills, routine, planning for the day, managing their time effectively and in many cases just checking in to make sure all is well and they are doing alright. Lobbying your local politician(s): you will be building and maintaining a relationship with your local MP, talking to them about The Humane League UK's campaigns and encouraging them to take the steps we need to drive progress for animals. This will happen in many ways, including writing letters, sending emails, using social media, and sometimes even meeting them in person (or online) when this is strategically important. Through effective and persuasive communication, you will keep animal welfare firmly on their agendas. 2. In addition, you will have the opportunity to organise public outreach events in your area. These events will help to raise awareness of the issues facing animals in factory farms amongst other constituents in your area, helping to get the attention of your MP. These events may range from door-dropping information, delivering talks, or engaging with members of the public at street events. The more people in your area who know about the issues facing animals, the more pressure your local MP will receive to do the right thing. Your grassroots events can help us gain support of decision makers, and you can play your part in making history for animals. This role is remotely accessible and focused on local action near where you’re based. No prior experience is required, just a passion and drive to make a difference. Neil's Hugs Foundation - Clacks

Neil's Hugs Foundation is a well-established charity in West Lothian and are expanding into the Clackmannanshire area. The group are developing a safe, compassionate and confidential space where support groups can meet for: • Anyone who are experiencing poor mental health • To support people who have lost loved ones to suicide • Families who are supporting a loved one who attempted suicide. The Foundation seeks to provide a safe place to talk and listen and support each other. They aim to reduce loneliness and isolation people with poor mental health experience. Neil's Hugs are developing a one-to-one, 12 week Befriending Service to aid people who are experiencing anxiety and poor mental health to build confidence and skills. Volunteers can help in offering this one-to-one support by becoming Befriender, which will: • Aid in achieving people's desired outcomes • Help people become more active in their local community. Volunteers can help in facilitating groups. Often people find it difficult to talk to people they know, so Neil's Hugs have also established a number of groups. The Support Groups are designed around providing a safe space for people to talk. The groups allow members the space and time while offering a compassionate, listening ear. The Foundation also utilises activities such as art therapy: - Listening Ear Service which is a phone or video service (Zoom) where volunteers support individuals who are experiencing poor mental health by giving them space on a weekly basis to talk. The volunteer’s listen and give support to those who just need someone to talk to. - People who have lost loved ones to suicide can attend a weekly Support Group that provides peer-support for families and friends who have lost a loved one to suicide. This too is a safe place to talk about loved one and to have peers involved in people's grief and loss. - The Gardening Group is among the newest developments at The Foundation. They have now linked in with the Wimpy Park's Garden who have offered an area for volunteers and those grieving to develop into a reflection garden. Volunteers can: If the above roles are not suitable, there are always extra help needed in raising awareness of suicide in communities and raising funds to help keep these vital projects going.
