Re-engage Volunteers

Re-engage (Aberdeen and North of Scotland)
Postcode: AB11 5YU
Re-engage is a national charity which supports a network of volunteers to run monthly tea parties across the country for isolated people over the age of 75. Once a month on a Sunday afternoon volunteer drivers use their own cars to collect one or two local older people and accompany them to a local volunteer host's home for afternoon tea, friendship and fun. Our guests are generally over the age of 75, living alone in their own homes and socially isolated. We have a fantastic team of volunteers in Aberdeen and have exciting opportunities for new people to join us in helping as volunteers: -Tea Party Hosts: Do you have a few hours to spare once or twice a year? Would you like to host a tea party for a small group of isolated older people and their drivers in your own home? Many older people feel isolated, so our monthly tea parties make a big difference to their lives. Our hosts provide a warm, friendly atmosphere and an afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes for our guests and volunteer drivers. -Volunteer Drivers: We need drivers to take an isolated older person, using their own cars to collect guests and take them to a volunteer host's home. Once there, you will take part in the tea party for a couple of hours with the other drivers and guests before returning your guest home again. It's the same small group of drivers and guests who meet in a different host's home each month establishing a real link of companionship and fun! Come and join us in making a big difference to the lives of isolated older people in your local community. Adult Supportive Transport

Positive Help
Postcode: EH2 4JY

It offers lifts to people who are living with or affected by HIV and /or Hepatitis C to attend vital medical, social care and welfare appointments. Our clients often struggle to travel independently due to limited mobility, social anxiety or financial constraints. Some are socially isolated and value the company of their driver. Providing a listening ear to help a Service User process what has been told to them at an appointment is of great benefit. Many tell us they would not attend vital medical appointments without having someone to support them in getting there. Our drivers provide much more to our service users than just a lift! Supportive Transport volunteers also deliver medication and food parcels. You are able to use your own car for this role or an Enterprise hire car.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to make a difference to the life of someone else. It can also be an incredible opportunity to enhance your own life and build new skills to help your personal and career development. Our drivers provide transport for people affected by Cystic Fibrosis to hospital appointments. Our clients do not need any physical help getting in and out of the vehicle. Children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis have to attend clinic appointments in hospitals to have their health monitored, usually every three months. Traveling in public transport poses risks of infection and waiting for transport in our typical inclement weather is undesirable because of their chronic lung condition. Our drivers provide transport from home ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. This service makes a real difference by reducing some of the pressure on families at this time.

.Driver for people and families with Cystic Fibrosis. Provide essential support as a driver by helping people affected by Cystic Fibrosis get to medical appointments. Our drivers provide transport for people affected by Cystic Fibrosis to hospital appointments. Our clients do not need any physical help getting in and out of the vehicle and our drivers use their own car. Children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis have to attend regular clinic appointments in. Traveling in public transport poses risks of infection and waiting for transport in our typical inclement weather is undesirable because of their chronic lung condition. Our drivers provide transport from home ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. This service makes a real difference by reducing some of the pressure on families. Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive, life limiting genetically inherited condition with 1 in 25 people carrying the faulty gene that causes the condition. There is currently no cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Volunteer Transport Driver

The Prince's Foundation
Postcode: KA18 2NJ
Opened in 2019, the Health and Wellbeing Centre at Dumfries House provides a range of holistic services to the local community. Services are GP and patient-led, with referrals from primary and secondary care providers. Run by The Prince’s Foundation, it provides an Integrated Health and Wellbeing Programme, with the centre also open to health charities and other organisations. Currently, the organisation is running a range of health care programmes for the community free of charge, such as Chronic Pain, Obesity and Weight Management, and Mental health courses. These are open to anyone in Ayrshire. Although based at the wonderful Dumfries House Estate at the health and wellbeing centre, this might also be problematic to people who would like to join but do not have the means and ways to get to the estate since there is no public transport links. Volunteer drivers would support both us as a foundation but more importantly the participants. Volunteer drivers transport people from their homes to Dumfries House and back to their residences, using their own vehicles. The volunteer drivers are reassured that the participants will be assessed that they are fit to get in and out of the vehicles on their own. The different wellbeing programmes run in between 6 to 12 weeks with morning and/or afternoon sessions. Each session lasts for 3 hours and volunteer drivers can either opt to leave and return the estate or else enjoy a walk in the grounds and a complimentary tea or coffee. Personal Qualities: • The ability to be supportive, non-judgemental and accepting of others. • Warmth, sensitivity and a willingness to listen. • Patience and understanding. • Enjoy interacting with people. • Willingness to get involved. • An understanding of the importance of a regular commitment.

Collection and Delivery Driver

The Scottish Pantry Network
Postcode: G34 9HJ
The Scottish Pantry Network urgently requires a volunteer driver to support the redistribution of surplus food to pantries across the city. We are looking for someone who can commit to at least 4 hours per week for the next 6 months. Minimum age - 25 TSPN champions a creative model and strength-based approach to tackle food insecurity that offers a ‘shopping experience’ to individuals and their community. Pantry members are not required to explain their personal circumstances, and memberships are open to everyone in the community. The Pantry model is based on a membership system where shoppers choose their own food items. This approach is designed to be inclusive and not to differentiate and helps Pantries to be regarded as a local food outlet as opposed to a place to go for food support. The need for providing basic support including food is increasing dramatically, as has the risk of poor mental health, social isolation, debt, relationship pressures and unemployment. TSPN members help to facilitate an effective way to provide food with dignity within local communities, helping make people’s budgets go further, and increasing community engagement and cohesion, while reducing large scale food waste. Candidates must have expertise operating a medium-sized transit van and possess a standard driver's licence. A pleasant, outgoing, and charming individual who gets along well with others would be ideal for this position. Moreover, you must be able to lift and load objects. You must be flexible and understand that managing surplus food can occasionally be unpredictable, thus daily routes and drop-off locations may change in order to successfully fulfil the function of Volunteer Driver. If you have any questions, please contact enquiries@scottishpantrynetwork.org.uk If you are interested please click the ‘apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organization with the contact details provided. Beaver Leader

6th Forfar Scouts Assocation
Postcode: DD8 3JD
Put your skills to use, learn new ones and play an active role in your community. Volunteering is easier than you think. with full support and training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis. Give young people the skills they need to succeed in life and discover how being part of the Scouting family can be as rewarding for you as it is for them. What do volunteers do? Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too. That’s where you come in. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Beaver or Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about minibus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family. Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. We provide the training. All of our adult volunteers receive full induction and ongoing training and support. Volunteer Minibus Drivers for Phoenix Club

Inchgarth Community Centre
Postcode: AB10 7DR
Inchgarth Community Centre is currently looking for new Volunteer Minibus Drivers for our Phoenix Club. The Phoenix Club is a social club for people with physical and learning disabilities. It is a very important place for our members as it's often the only opportunity people have to talk and socialise during the week. Some of them live far away from the centre, or just cannot come here by themselves, hence the need for a driver. The Phoenix Club is held every Monday from 7-9pm, while the driver would need to be at Inchgarth at 5.15pm to get the bus and start the round. The role is only driving, there will be an escort in the bus to support and manage every needs from our members. The driver is welcome to stay in the centre during the Phoenix Club, and we'll be happy to help you with coffee and a slice of cake! At the end of the club, the driver would take home our members. To be able to drive you would need a D1 on your license. If you wish to volunteer, or know someone who might be interested, please get in touch with us. Even once a month would be great and your help would make a massive difference to some of societies most socially isolated and vulnerable adults and ensure people can get to their club. For more details please contact Jules Ory, Inchgarth Community Centre Volunteer Coordinator, at email volunteerinchgarth@gmail.com or tel.: 01224 325191.

FareShare Delivery Assistant

Transform Community Development
Postcode: DD1 5AZ
We redistribute food, which would end in in waste, to non-profit organisations in Tayside and Fife. These groups then provide meals for people who are experiencing food poverty, social isolation or other hardship. We need driver's assistants who can give a few hours to help deliver food to our members. This is a vital part of providing a valuable service to thousands of individuals in need. Working as part of a team, the van crew load and unload crated food to local community food members. If you are reasonably fit and able bodied and can give a few hours you could make a real difference to a project that is so important to so many.
