3rd Inverness Boys Brigade are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help lead games and sporty activities for their children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old. The group meets on Friday evenings during term-time, taking part in a wide range of activities including crafts, games, sports, cooking, life skills and community projects.

At Counselling Care we provide free Counselling to the community of Skye and Lochalsh. Although we are largely trauma orientated we provide specialist counselling in many areas. Our Counsellors have varied specialist knowledge and we are usually able to help with any issue that presents to us.
In order to provide our services for free we are completely reliant on our team of able and willing volunteer Counsellors. We need qualified (to Diploma Level) Counsellors who are members of the BACP, COSCA, or their equivalent who can spare 2-3 hours a week to work with our clients. All individuals will have been assessed.
Whilst we are looking for people to work online, over the phone or face to face, we especially need those who are willing to work in a Face to Face capacity. Supervision will be paid for and travelling expenses (within reason) will be honoured. You can also expect to be included in training provided for our Counsellors. You will be part of a friendly team consisting of paid, volunteer and student Counsellors, there are regular team meetings and communication with others within the organisation so you will not be alone.
Scouting is volunteering at its finest. We work in teams to create the best scouting experience possible.

The Treasurer Opportunity at Douglas Valley Church would suit either a retired accountant, financial adviser or professional book-keeper, or an aspirant student wishing to enter the financial profession. It is not a requirement for the post holder to have a profession of faith, although this would be welcome.
With an active congregation of just under 300 members, the Douglas Valley Church is a registered charity with a statutory responsibility to make an annual OSCAR return, subject to the approval and ratification of Presbytery Committee.
In addition to meeting the expenses associated with Ministry, and Pastoral care, the Church supports five paid part time employee positions, and has a commitment to support wider pastoral and charitable need in the local community. This includes support of early years and family initiatives, community volunteering, dementia programmes, and support to local and regional charities.
To service these commitments the Kirk Session meets on a six weekly cycle .The Treasurer would be expected to attend meetings to advice on cumulative annual expenditure and income, trends for the year with a comparison to previous years, and to offer advice to ensure the viability of Church finances.
The Treasurer would be appointed for a period of one year although the volunteer could tender their wish to terminate their services at any point. The volunteer would be fully reimbursed for all expenses including travel , stationary , and office materials.
Human trafficking is happening in all 32 local authorities in Scotland, on each of our doorsteps. Hidden and misunderstood, SOHTIS is committed to bringing freedom to victims and survivors of human trafficking across the country. Do you have an interest in pastoral care, some free time and a lovely, gentle dog? Then volunteering for Pet and Companion (PEACE for short) could be for you and your furry friend!
PEACE is a charity providing Canine Therapy along with Pastoral Care for people in need of support and companionship, particularly: the elderly; patients receiving end of life care; students during stressful periods; and vulnerable women.
Pastoral Carers and their therapy dogs (PEACE Teams) visit people in need of support and companionship in various locations, including: Care Homes; University and College campuses; and community hubs. Ideally, PEACE Teams will volunteer for a couple of hours a week/fortnight in order to build relationships with the people they visit.
The PEACE dog helps to provide a relaxing environment (the basis of canine therapy), while the Pastoral Carer offers both a listening ear and a means of support, happy to talk through any concerns or fears a person may have (pastoral care).
The role of a PEACE Pastoral Carer is similar to that of a befriender. All Pastoral Carers are therefore Christians, and are comfortable praying and/or discussing their faith with the people they visit, if requested.
All PEACE Pastoral Carers receive training in Mental Health First Aid, attentive listening and dementia awareness. Volunteers will also become members of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.

This is a great opportunity to be involved with a Christian Medical charity to raise funds for a neglected tropical disease. Leprosy still exists in over 120 countries with approximately 200,000 new cases every year despite there being a cure.
The group has been in existence in the local area for over 50 years. We meet 4 times per year to organise events eg coffee mornings, concerts, participating in sponsored walk such as the Kilt Walk and running events. Speaking opportunities are available to inform others of the charity.
We have a good relationship with various local churches who support us and send in donations.
You would be volunteering with a small group of friendly , welcoming people to use your ideas to participate in and enhance fundraising events. All new ideas for fundraising are always welcomed.
We feel new members to the group would enhance and refresh what we do.

Do you want to help people to deal with the challenges of work and life? The Business Connection (TBC) is a charity founded by 4 Christian businessmen to ‘encourage, equip and empower men and women working in the corporate business environment’. Although founded on Christian principles we support people of all faiths and none.
We run fortnightly Tuesday breakfasts at the Holiday Inn Express, Chapel Street, Aberdeen giving folks a chance to meet informally to be encouraged & supported and signposted to appropriate help. We also run a monthly breakfast on the last Friday of the month at the Palm Court Hotel when we have a guest speaker. The topics are aimed at bringing useful content on wellbeing, personal development and practical guidance. In March 2019, TBC held its inaugural ‘Thrive’ conference in Aberdeen. This was to encourage those of a Christian faith in how they could thrive within the marketplace. With guest speakers from across the UK and the USA the excellent feedback received, both on content and quality of the conference, has led to plans being made for Thrive 2020 not only in Aberdeen but also expanding to Edinburgh. Exciting times!
Jim Grimmer, co-founder & managing trustee cut back from full-time work in 2015 to dedicate 2 days a week, on a voluntary basis, to the development of TBC. TBC has now grown to some 300 individuals on the events mailing list and has become known for its work across the UK. Jim is also founder of a social enterprise P3 Business Care bringing personal & proactive care to employees in business in partnership with their employer and with his team, is visiting businesses on a weekly basis across the UK so no longer has the capacity to manage TBC.
The opportunity of Volunteer Operations Manager of TBC has fantastic potential. Currently the fortnightly breakfasts takes place in the City centre however there is an opportunity to expand the breakfasts to multiple locations across the city on different days. There is also work to be done in developing our relationships with the local church ideally identifying a TBC focal point from the business community within each church and creating a network of TBC contacts.

We have a great volunteer opportunity to join our excellent team of volunteers as a Cathedral Caretaker is responsible for the general upkeep and presentation of the Cathedral and associated properties. Duties will include:
*Routine maintenance and heavier-duty cleaning, supporting the existing cleaning team when appropriate;
*Conducting scheduled safety checks and tests in accordance with statutory requirements;
*Being a responsible key-holder for emergency access to the buildings
*Preparing venues and providing access to buildings for external-hire events; securing premises after the event;
*Being the primary contact and providing access to buildings for contractors and officials visiting the Cathedral;
*Ensuring all boilers / radiators are working efficiently and boilers are regularly inspected/serviced by a qualified tradesperson.
*Setting of heating in accordance with Cathedral diary of events
