*Volunteers required to help out on our upcoming Rotaract Rainbow Run event (more commonly known as 'Colour Run')!!* The Rotaract Clubs in NorthEast Scotland are hosting our first ever 'colour run' event - Rotaract Rainbow Run. This is an event to increase the publicity of all Rotaract clubs within our district and to fundraise for Charlie House and The Rotary Foundation. We mainly want to be more connected to the local community and work together for something fun and meaningful! Rotaract Clubs are led by a group of young people from 18 years onwards, to promote leadership, fellowship, personal and professional development. There are currently 3 clubs within the district, Rotaract Club of Aberdeen, Moray and Dundee. We all do various fundraisers, networking with businesses and charities, and socialising throughout the year! The Rotaract Rainbow Run event takes place at the wonderful Duthie Park, Aberdeen (at the centre field area where the bandstand is) on Sunday 9th June 2024. There are several roles you can volunteer for: - Crowd control stewarding (entrance/ exit, start and finish line) - Colour dusters! (dusting the colour powder along the 'running' tracks) - Registration and lost and found stands - Safety stewards (monitoring general safety of the crowd) - Photographer needed too! We are looking for total of 6-8 (max 10) volunteers to join us to make this event possible! Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. Includes you will be briefed about the event on a successful application and detailed briefing on the day of the event. You will be provided with a contact for any queries prior to the event and there will be support system set up on the day by the event control team. This is a great opportunity to be involved with a Christian Medical charity to raise funds for a neglected tropical disease. Leprosy still exists in over 120 countries with approximately 200,000 new cases every year despite there being a cure. The group has been in existence in the local area for over 50 years. We meet 4 times per year to organise events eg coffee mornings, concerts, participating in sponsored walk such as the Kilt Walk and running events. Speaking opportunities are available to inform others of the charity. We have a good relationship with various local churches who support us and send in donations. You would be volunteering with a small group of friendly , welcoming people to use your ideas to participate in and enhance fundraising events. All new ideas for fundraising are always welcomed. We feel new members to the group would enhance and refresh what we do. WaterAid Speakers are trained volunteers that deliver inspiring talks and workshops, to raise awareness about the importance of clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, to transform peoples’ lives for good. Our Speaker volunteers engage audiences about the important work of WaterAid, inspiring them to take action, as they speak with schools, universities, businesses, youth groups, religious places of worship, service organisations, and many more. WaterAid Speakers: •Deliver a minimum of four talks or workshops per year, either online and/or face to face. •Deliver talks or workshops on key days such as: World Water Day on 22 March, World Toilet Day on 19 November, Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May and Global Handwashing Day on 15 October. •Contact new audiences to organise and deliver talk and workshop opportunities. •Complete online Speaker Network training and adhere to volunteer guidance and best practise. •Make use of our public speaking resources (such as PowerPoint presentations) included in our Speaker e-newsletter, emails, and online resource library. •Keep up to date with our key messages, appeals, campaigns, fundraising and volunteering. •Regularly liaise with the Speaker Network team about talks and workshops. •Provide feedback on talks or workshops by completing the online evaluations. •Provide support to new Speakers around their public speaking development. •Demonstrate the WaterAid values including being considerate when representing WaterAid and always leaving others with a positive view of our organisation and the work that we do. Then why not join the RESULTS Edinburgh campaign group! RESULTS UK is a movement of passionate, committed, everyday people. Together we use our voices to influence political decisions that we believe will bring an end to poverty, advocating on issues such as global health and education. Our campaign groups are connected by a passion to end poverty and to take action to influence political decisions. There are 13 campaign groups, and many individual campaigners, who make up the RESULTS UK grassroots network. Each month our campaigners take a well-researched campaign action, which is sent out in our action materials. The 'Call to action' each month is often to write and engage with, MPs and Government Ministers. Who you write to depends on who the RESULTS UK policy and parliamentary teams think you can influence the most! There are often also prompts for taking action on social media or local media. Our recent campaigns include global COVID-19 vaccine equity, effective nutrition programmes and an ongoing campaign to save the UK Overseas Development Assistance (ODA, often known as aid) budget! As well as taking monthly actions, the Edinburgh group regularly joins our monthly conference calls. We discuss the focus of that month's campaign action, and hear an update from around the network. We also welcome an expert guest speaker on the topic of the month. The calls are a great opportunity to learn about international development, ask questions, and connect with other campaigners. We are looking for someone with administrative skills to enter data onto our database, and to help with the production of food labels for our food project. Signpost International is based at the Roundhouse and is a charity that supports communities to help them help themselves. In Dundee we run the Roundhouse Kitchen where we take food waste and turn this into healthy nutritious meals that are then distributed through the food larders across the city.

We need volunteers to help raise awareness about Mary's Meals and fundraise for our work. As a Community Volunteer you will grow our movement by motivating and inspiring your local community to support our work. We need people who are passionate about ending child hunger and ensuring that every child receives a daily meal in a place of education. We have a range of activities that can be done from the comfort of your home that include: hosting virtual talks, spreading the word about our work on social media or holding screenings of our inspiring videos with family and friends. If you don't mind public speaking, we can also train you to give talks to schools, Rotary Clubs and other local organisations to generate support for our cause. Oher activities may include: * Sharing our story with local community organisations, schools, churches, and faith groups. * Organising fundraising events in your local area – such as coffee mornings, quizzes, and bucket collections. * Promoting Mary's Meals' fundraising campaigns in your community. * Distributing and displaying promotional materials and placing collection tins.
