: Support Volunteers are directly involved with visitors to the Kyle Ward Oncology Day Unit, Ayr Hospital offering support in a safe and positive environment where there is continuous support from paid NHS staff and other volunteers complementing, not replacing, their work. Responsible to: Head of Cancer Support Services (HoCSS) Hours: Thursday and Friday, 9am – 1pm or 1pm – 5pm. Additional requirements and general information: • Successful placement will be dependent on Disclosure Scotland PVG, Covid Age Risk assessment and two-character references. • Maintain patient confidentiality, at all times. • Volunteers should not: undertake duties outside this role description without checking first with the Nurse in Charge / HoCSS; undertake any manual handling tasks without the appropriate training; undertake patients’ personal or clinical care. • A volunteer can offer emotional support and empathy but must under no circumstances offer advice or medical opinion on a patient’s treatment. • Volunteers are in place to complement the work of the paid staff and are not used to replace roles that are normally undertaken by paid hospital employees. • Volunteers are bound by the ‘Volunteer Agreement’ which should be signed and returned to the HoCSS prior to undertaking this role. • You will be required to undertake training relevant to the role including ACS induction; role training prior to ward placement and other training as identified for the role whilst on placement. • Ability to commit to the same times each week would be preferred. • Expenses: All actual travel expenses will be reimbursed. • All volunteers will be provide with 4-6weekly supervision by HoCSS.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: We are seeking to recruit Coffee Shop Volunteers to assist in the day to day running of the coffee shop who have a positive and welcoming attitude, good communication skills and want to be part of an enthusiastic and motivated team. Experience is not required however any experience in catering or hospitality may be of benefit. Barista training will be provided to you to make and serve our range of coffees. DUTIES INCLUDE: 1. Operating the till. 2. Serving customers in a pleasant and courteous manner. 3. Cleaning the kitchen and coffee shop area in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations and Guidance. 4. Undertaking the preparation of the food and beverages served in the coffee shop. 5. Ensuring that the coffee shop is clean and tidy and creates a pleasant and welcoming environment. 6. Reporting maintenance issues to the Coffee Shop Manager.

Our Union Street is a community-led organisation working to revitalise Aberdeen’s Union Street and has set out how with the support of the public it will regenerate, repopulate and reinvigorate the Granite Mile. A key part of this is the assistance of volunteers and there are fantastic ways you can get involved and help. Agape Wellbeing Centre is looking for a caring and enthusiastic individual to lead a weekly Gentle Exercise Group session. This will provide an opportunity for vulnerable adults in the local community to engage in low impact exercises and physical activities to support their health and wellbeing. You will have the opportunity to lead the Gentle Exercise Group and plan low impact exercises and fun physical activities for each weekly session. You will help to create a welcoming and engaging environment for people attending the group and encourage their participation. You will also complete a sign-in record and debrief notes for each session.
