Deputy Launching Authority (V15685) - Kessock

About us The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Kessock is looking for a volunteer to join the existing team in the role of Deputy Launching Authority. Kessock is one of Scotland’s youngest lifeboat stations, operating an inshore B class Atlantic 85 lifeboat. For over 20 years the lifeboat crews have launched the lifeboats, not only to save lives at sea but also to save lives inland during flooding. The impact you will make This role will help us save lives at sea by carrying out the day to day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service. What you will be doing Authorise launch of the lifeboats Provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager or as delegated Ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service. Water Safety Advisor (V15651) - Kessock

About us The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea, but it’s not limited to launching a lifeboat or providing lifeguards to save lives. Water Safety contributes to the RNLI’s vision of saving everyone, by developing Community Lifesaving Plans (CLPs) and working with Partners to help influence improved safety, to reduce the number of preventable deaths and incidents that occur within local coastal and inland waterway environments. The Water Safety Adviser is part of a team contributing towards the local Community Lifesaving Plans by going into the community and delivering RNLI water safety advice. Part of this role is to identify local risks and work with partners to deliver targeted interventions. This role for somebody who has good communication and people skills and possibly some experience of public speaking but if not, the desire to gain some skills and/or confidence in this area. If you would like to join a friendly, dedicated, motivated team and you fit the criteria above or, have some of the required skills, we would like to hear from you. Older People Befriending Service COVID-19 Support Volunteers

*Help people who feel alone - just a few hours a week from you could make the future brighter for someone experiencing loneliness or social isolation.* Hand of Solace is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation which helps people who may be lonely or at risk of loneliness and social isolation. -What our volunteers do: Loneliness and social isolation affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Being or feeling alone can have a devastating impact on people’s health and wellbeing, as well as on communities, hospitals and other public services. Through just a few hours a week, you could provide a huge help for someone experiencing loneliness or social isolation. -Support for people and volunteering during COVID-19 Pandemic: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our befriending service to our older people has now transitioned from face to face to phone/video contact. We now also offer shopping, prescription collection etc. where necessary to the older people. Depression is also a major issue so our befrienders are needing to keep in touch more often than before to ensure their Befriendees are safe and sound and to offer any possible support. -How to get involved: We provide volunteer support to tackle loneliness in the following areas of Aberdeen: - Stoneywood - Seaton - Bucksburn - Northfield - Bridge of Don - Dyce If you would like to volunteer with us, send us an email or give us a ring and we will contact you within a few days to provide further details and discuss how you can get involved. Aberdeen Two’s Company Telephone Befriending Service Volunteers

Linking Lives UK has been working hard to respond effectively to the impact of Covid-19 particularly among those already affected by social isolation and loneliness on a daily basis. Aberdeen Two’s Company is a local telephone befriending service that connects volunteers with local people (‘Link Friends’) through telephone contact. The aim of our telephone befriending is to help reduce the impact that social isolation by making connections with others. This is especially important at this time of COVID-19 Crisis in the UK.
