Visiting Leisure Centres can be a daunting experience for anyone on the Autistic Spectrum as it is, by nature, a noisy and exciting environment. We have an autism friendly session one Sunday every month, during Dundee School term times, as well as children attending our swimming lessons who are on the Autistic Spectrum. The main duties include meeting and greeting customers, be a familiar face providing a friendly welcome, show customers to the changing rooms and poolside, be on hand to give information/answer queries.

Supporting a local charity aimed at inclusiveness and working to promote, sustain and increase individual education and access to local, fresh grown produce. To help alleviate food poverty, to promote healthy living and access to outdoor spaces and to enhance community cohesiveness. To support and empower those who are impacted by health. Various roles are available depending on preference. We have a wide list of opportunities from helping in the gardens, becoming a lead volunteer, mentoring other volunteers, helping out at activities and open days in the community gardens, being involved in the online presence of the charity eg taking pictures and possibly helping with IT. We are also involved with several other initiatives and we are happy to discuss volunteer involvement in these areas too, where appropriate.

Clinical Volunteer (Ascot, England)

Over The Wall is a UK based charity for children and young people with health challenges and disabilities, and their families, to discover a world of mischief and magic. A place where they can be brave and have fun with others. These amazing places are in-person – at residential camps and also available online – with Camp in the Cloud and Camp 365. And what’s more, it’s all free! Their Health Challenge & Siblings Camps are magical places where campers take part in fun activities including Sports and Games, Drama, Arts and Crafts and Discovery. Campers will be divided into teams based on their age groups of 8-10, 11-13, 13-15 and 15-17 years of age. Participate in daily camper life to provide nursing/medical care. Facilitate a medically sound and safe camp experience for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses by contributing to a 24/7 provision of residential medical care. Clinical volunteers will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Nursing Coordinators. You will also be part of a team of other incredible volunteers and will need a sense of fun with an energetic, enthusiastic and positive approach. If you are looking for an amazing and rewarding experience where you can make a difference in young people’s lives and see these young people out of a hospital setting, the sign up to be a clinical volunteer today! Camp is four days long and you will be required to arrive one day early for training. We will give you all the necessary training and support and provide your accommodation and food for the duration of camp. Requirements: NURSE - Registered Children’s, Adult or Learning Disabilities nurse. - Qualified for 18 months (Children’s nurse), 2 years (Adult/ Learning Disabilities nurse) or 12 months if previously a student nurse with Over The Wall - Registered with NMC - Holds professional indemnity insurance - Holds valid, current life support training. DOCTOR - ST2 or above (or equivalent) Pediatrics, GP or A&E or have recent Pediatric experience Registered with the GMC - Holds professional indemnity insurance - Holds valid, current life support training. PARAMEDIC - Qualified Paramedic - Post registration experience: 2 years - Registered with HCPC - Holds professional indemnity insurance with College of Paramedics - Holds valid, current life support training.

Activity Leader (Ascot, England)

Over The Wall is a UK based charity for children and young people with health challenges and disabilities, and their families, to discover a world of mischief and magic. A place where they can be brave and have fun with others. These amazing places are in-person – at residential camps and also available online – with Camp in the Cloud and Camp 365. And what’s more, it’s all free! Join their activity team to run some fantastic sessions that have been planned by the activity team and will be taught to you so that you can confidently run them and help bring some fun and excitement to the sessions. Over the Wall are looking for some amazing people to take on a role as Activity Leader at their Camps in 2023. Do you have a secret talent you’d love to run as an activity? E.g. Arts and Crafts, drama or sports? They’ve previously had origami sessions and woodwork that they could not have run without their amazing volunteers coming forward to provide. Camp is 2 - 5 days long and you will be required to arrive one day early for training. Over The Wall is a charity that helps children, young people and their families, living in the UK, reach beyond the boundaries of their health challenges to discover a world of mischief, magic and new possibilities. They do this by providing free of charge, transformative activity camps throughout the UK. Their Health Challenge & Siblings Camps are magical places where campers take part in fun activities including Sports and Games, Drama, Arts and Crafts and Discovery. Volunteer Befriender

Become a Volunteer Befriender Want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people in your community? Discover new interests? Meet new people? Look no further than our fantastic volunteer befriending opportunity! Equal Futures creates connections for people with a learning disability or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and their family carers through Circles of Support, befriending and social events. By joining our caring and knowledgeable team you will support someone to build their confidence and access opportunities they might previously have been isolated from. You will benefit from training and on-going skills development. You will also receive friendly and professional support from our Project Coordinators. Our Befrienders play a crucial role within society. They can improve the self-esteem of someone with a learning disability who is lonely and isolated within their community. Befrienders also take the burden off other community services by simply providing someone with a friend to connect with. What will you do as a Volunteer Befriender? As part of the Circle of Support, Befrienders help a person we support build their confidence and participate in social activities within their community. This may include going for walks, participating in clubs or classes together, or attending Equal Future’s social events. Befrienders meet one-on-one with the person we support weekly or fortnightly. As a volunteer you may sometimes also offer kind and friendly support to not only the individual, but their family as well, depending on the circumstance. An Equal Futures Project Co-ordinator will be there for you throughout your entire volunteering experience. They offer services such as Day Centres, Outreach and supported living to support people within their care to live their lives as full as possible. Currently, they are looking for people to join their Real Life Volunteers programme and specifically for people who would like to get involved with some creative activities such as Arts and Crafts, Baking/Cooking and/or Music. These activities bring such a huge positive impact to the people they support...and it is fun and enjoyable for everyone involved! During the last year it has been quite unsettling and now, more than than ever, the people Real Life Options support would really benefit from any time, commitment and kindness a volunteer could give.
