The Men’s Group will be a new social group for autistic men or men with a learning disability. This will be a safe space in which to talk, take part in meaningful activities and learn life skills. This would be a weekly opportunity to help with this group, taking part in activities that the men are interested in, and possibly working alongside outside organisations to come and give talks.
Serendipities is dedicated to creating inventive, delicious food while also offering opportunities for our members to develop meaningful skills. We make food for sale to users of Dudhope Castle, as well as for our own events and outside catering orders, working from recipes and our own ideas.

You will volunteer alongside one of our staff team for anything from a couple of hours to a full day. Our sessions run for two hours and we currently operate Tuesdays to Fridays, 10am-4pm.

This is an opportunity to support adults with a Learning Disability to engage with their community, and for volunteers to gain an understanding into the work of the Learning Disability Team. Volunteers will support clients to work towards a goal they have set, on a weekly basis (which can include evenings and weekends, for a minimum of 6 months). This might be to join a group, get more active, get used to public transport or to socialise in the community. Volunteers might also be asked to find out about activities that their client may enjoy.
Our charity shops rely on generous donations made by the public to raise crucial funds for Marie Curie. From clothes, homeware and books, to CDs and DVDs, we sell a wide variety of products.
We are looking for volunteers to help us sort through all these donations, pick out the best items and prepare and sell them to our customers. Without the help of our dedicated volunteers we could not provide our customers with high quality items at affordable prices. This allows us to raise funds so our nurses can continue to provide care to terminally ill people and support for their families.
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
Sort through donations, being aware of the possibility of a hidden gem and better quality brands
Prepare items for sale by checking, hanging, steaming, sizing and pricing them
Work on the shop floor and provide excellent customer service to our shoppers
Operate the till
Help out with basic housekeeping to keep the shop clean and tidy
