ClubSport Aberdeen is a vibrant body directed by the clubs, for the clubs. As an independent charity, we provide a unified voice for sport clubs in Aberdeen at the top level across the city through our relationship with the Active Aberdeen Partnership. Our purpose is not only to provide the AAP with club input and a club perspective on arising matters, but also to ensure that Aberdeen has safe, sustainable and supported clubs. It does so by using expertise from within the club network as well as from partners in the wider network. This gives Aberdeen’s clubs the ability to develop and grow their membership, workforce and structure to provide their members with the best possible experience of the sport. Membership is open to all clubs across Aberdeen, and generally around 70-80 clubs register with us on an annual basis. The board of Club Sport Aberdeen is made up of a board of volunteer trustees who meet regularly to discuss programmes and initiatives that will benefit sports clubs across the city, which includes projects such as the North East Youth Panel and Active Schools Voucher projects. However, we would be keen to support clubs to deliver projects that also impact on mental health, increasing confidence and breaking down barriers to access sport and physical activity. The board currently have vacancies for Vice Chair, Treasurer and Welfare Officer positions to support the work of the board and various projects, with the Vice Chair and Treasurer positions also being charity trustee positions. • TREASURER - Oversee all financial aspects of ClubSport Aberdeen and be responsible for regular reporting to the ClubSport Board and help submit annual reporting to OSCR. • VICE CHAIR - support and deputise for the Chairperson in leading ClubSport Aberdeen in developing and delivering its objectives. • WELFARE OFFICER - responsible for promoting safeguarding throughout ClubSport Aberdeen and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved. Board meetings take place on a bi-monthly basis, with other meetings scheduled as required. Time commitment would generally be 2-3 hours per month, depending on the meeting cycle and membership processing. Streetsport provides young people across Aberdeen City with the opportunity to play sport for free in a fun and safe environment. We run week night sessions year-round and are looking for volunteers to help at these sessions. Aberlour Options Aberdeen is a short breaks service, providing residential, community-based short breaks and care at home for children and young people with disabilities. We offer a safe, homely environment for a child to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. Volunteer Drivers play an important role in helping transport children to and from our service on our minibus, helping them to feel comfortable and secure. Our services are in the Bucksburn and Garthdee areas of Aberdeen, with journeys frequently across the Aberdeen City area. Volunteer Drivers play an important role in helping children feel safe, secure and relaxed during these journeys. Volunteer Drivers put children at ease, who may otherwise be feeling anxious by interacting with children and being a friendly face to accompany them to and from the service. These interactions help to develop communication skills, building confidence and self-esteem. Volunteer Drivers can gain a real sense of satisfaction from helping children with disabilities travel to and from the Options Aberdeen service, knowing they are making a positive impact and helping to make their time at Option Aberdeen enjoyable. MCR Pathways has been partnering with schools since 2007 so we know just how amazing the young people of Scotland are. However, sometimes due to situations out of their control, young people face challenges that make it more difficult for them to succeed. That’s why providing the simple support of a mentor is so important and has been proven to make a life-changing difference. This is where you can help... MCR recruits and trains volunteer mentors who are matched with a young person that shares similar interests, hobbies or career aspirations. Mentors meet with their young person at their school for just one hour per week and the difference this makes is transformational. The mentoring relationship is unique as young people establish a friendship with someone who’s there, just for them and is not a teacher, parent, guardian or counsellor. The impact on their life is huge. Recent ScotCen research shows 81.6% of mentored care-experienced pupils left school for college, university or a job, compared with 56.3% of those young people not being mentored. We are hoping to help even more young people in the area reach their potential and are looking for over 150 mentors from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire In Aberdeen St Machar Academy has been part of the programme since August 2018 and, in 2020 was joined by Northfield, Hazlehead, Dyce, Harlaw and Lochside Academies. Aberdeenshire schools participating in the programme are Banff, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Peterhead and The Gordons Schools Huntly The only qualification you need to be a mentor is the desire to help. All young people are different and have different needs, so it’s important that our mentors come from all walks of life. Volunteer mentors are asked to commit just one hour a week for a minimum of one year and will be fully trained and PVG checked before being matched with a young person from an Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire school. The building of the relationship with a young person is facilitated by our fantastic MCR Pathways Coordinators who are based in each school and work with our young people on a daily basis. The STEM Ambassador Programme is a nationwide scheme dedicated to getting more young people interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects leading to an increase in young people pursuing STEM careers. The most valuable tool young people have at their disposal when considering future career paths are the people around them, and we believe that STEM Ambassadors can be their greatest source of inspiration. Do you work in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) industry? Do you have a passion for a particular STEM subject? Are you interested in passing this information onto young people? If the answer is yes, become a STEM Ambassador! STEM Ambassadors are volunteers that aim to inspire young people to become interested in STEM subjects and consider a career in a STEM industry. Bridge of Don Sea Cadets is a friendly, productive and energetic unit within the national Sea Cadet movement. The kids benefit from the support, training and guidance of a dedicated team of voluntary staff, civilian assistants and parental supporters. We are actively looking for new members of staff (18+) to assist in the running of our unit. You have the option of joining as a civilian instructor or as a uniformed member of staff. Civilian Instructor is a role ideally suited to someone who can contribute to the unit but does not wish to enrol as a fully uniformed member of staff. All we ask is that you give up some time every week with the odd weekend throughout the year. Uniformed Staff are responsible for the training of cadets within the Corps. Specialised skills can be developed at Sea Cadet training centres throughout the country. You will initially be interviewed to join as a Civilian Instructor and will be required to go through an enhanced criminal records check. Once this has been done you will work towards becoming a Petty Officer (SCC). You will be required to attend a Sea Cadet Instructors Qualifying course at one of our National Training Centres, obtain a First Aid qualification as well as receive training and assessment in Instructional Methods. We are currently seeking people to volunteer as: > Voluntary Coworkers within Residential School and Care Homes: Our pupils age from 12-25 years old and as part of your position, you will be with them when they attend the school, farm and gardens, workshops or even riding stables as part of their personalised daily routines and assist them with their tasks throughout the day. > Voluntary Farm and Gardens Volunteers: Our farm cares for cows, pigs, goats, hens and alpacas. As part of your position, you will be with our pupils when they attend the farm and gardens as part of their personalised daily routines and assist them with their tasks. > Voluntary Workshop Assistants: You will be with our pupils when they attend the various workshops (woodwork, metal, weavery, felt, candle, pottery, bike and Fruver- our food workshop)as part of their personalised daily routines and assist them with their tasks.
