Help make a difference. Do you have good leadership skills and enjoy motivating a team? Then you could be our next Buckstone Scout Group Chair of our Group Executive Committee. As Chair you will manage things and work with our Leadership Team to ensure our Scout Group provides the best Scouting possible for our young people.
Although the ‘executive’ bit in our committee’s title makes it sound very formal, it is actually not like that at all! No prior Scouting experience is required.
Buckstone Scout Group Secretary ... are you an organised person? Do you want to help? No previous secretarial experience is required, we just need someone who is good at admin support. Simples...and it only takes a couple of hours a month. No previous Scouts experience, no problem! This is a non-uniformed volunteering role. This is ideal for someone who does not wish to work directly with young people but support Scouts. Come and be part of our fun team.
EXCITING NEW OPPORTUNITY IN MIDLOTHIAN
Grandmentors is an award winning inter-generational mentoring programme, matching volunteer mentors who have a range of life skills and experiences with young people aged 16-24 who have had adverse childhood experiences. Grandmentors has now launched in Midlothian.
Our volunteer mentors help young people navigate the transition to independence by guiding them through life skills such as managing finances, accessing employment, education and training, and supporting their health and wellbeing.
This opportunity is for volunteers (normally aged 50+) who have life experience and skills to offer. However, if you are younger than 50 and feel you could offer valuable support, please do apply or contact us to discuss further.
It is important that you have good people skills, communication skills, patience, and can offer a regular commitment of a few hours per week (weekly or fortnightly). This role requires PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme membership, which will be handled and processed by us.
We provide our volunteers with comprehensive training, on-going support, and volunteer expenses.

The Inspire Project is a new wraparound volunteering and mentorship programme being launched to support New Scots across Edinburgh and Dundee. New Scots aged 16-30 will be provided with a tailored volunteer placement within their local community and a mentor who will support them as they navigate their experience while gaining valuable skills and confidence. As a mentor you will meet regularly with your mentee to provide practical and emotional support over the course of their placement.
Woodcraft Folk are looking for group leaders and helpers for our Leith group for children and young people from 6 to 16 . The group meets one evening a week in term time but may organise day trips and camps in school holidays.
Our groups aim to develop children and young people's confidence and awareness of the world. We promote big ideas like equality, co-operation and environmental sustainability through fun activities.
We do a wide range of activities including games, craft, exploring nature, bushcraft, drama, discussions and songs. As well as weekly group nights we take part in day events and camps with groups from across Scotland.

We provide young people with exciting and challenging experiences and then help them use those experiences in their personal and social development. The level of your involvement is entirely up to you and could vary from helping out for a couple of hours each week at the local Scout Hall to participation in outdoor weekend events & challenges.

There are waiting lists for girls to join Units in the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows because they need more adult volunteers throughout Scotland.
Leaders can participate in a whole host of activities and times are flexible, so you can give as little or as much as you like. Most Units meet once a week during term-time. There are loads of other opportunities for you to get involved in during the holidays of weekends, if you wish.
Girls and Young women today participate in a wide-range of activities such as DJ-ing, water sports, singing, dancing, arts & crafts and much more.
Unit Leaders are given training both 'on the job and through training sessions. Specificaly looking for mature leaders.
