The 3rd Dumfriesshire Scout Group in Moffat are looking for a Group Scout Leader (GSL). The GSL will help to guide and support the group and guide it in its further development in line with Scout Association requirements. Responsibilities will include: assisting with recruitment and retention of leaders; supporting the programme planning process; acting as a line manager for any issues encountered by section leaders; acting as a liaison to the District and wider Scouting organisation. The GSL will have the full support of the 3rd Dumfriesshire Scout Group Executive Committee. We see this role as a great opportunity to give back to the community and Scouting movement.

D&G Befriending Project is a local charity which offers an early intervention service across the region for eight to eighteen year olds. It recruits and trains adult volunteers who are, in turn, matched one-to-one with individual young people. Once matched, the befriender commits to spending a few hours a week or fortnight with “their” young person, spending time building up a relationship and taking part in shared activities. Children and young people referred to the Project may be isolated within the community or experiencing difficulties at home or school. The time spent with an adult befriender can provide vital individual attention and release from day-to-day pressures. Having and working with a befriender can help the young person tackle difficulties before they get too big. The young people benefit from the energy and enthusiasm of their befrienders and gain confidence from forming a positive relationship with a supportive adult. Volunteer befrienders are men and women from all walks of life. They may be a student, a parent, or an older person. The most important factors are that they have an interest in young people, are reliable and have some time to spare. The Project has found over the past 20 years that having a befriender who will commit to spending a few hours a week or fortnight - to share enjoyable activities or simply have time to chat can make a huge impact in a young persons life.

Newsletter: Create and publish the Monthly Volunteer Newsletter and ad-hoc email for events, opportunities and News. Media: Promote “good news stories” through external media outlets and help liaise with local media contacts to grow our reach. Advertising /Volunteer Recruitment: Promote the latest volunteering opportunities in Clyde Scouts (including our districts/groups) and encourage more people to start volunteering. Communications Support: Provide support to districts and groups to improve internal and external communications. Internal Communications: Ensure Clyde Scouts communicates efficiently internally and that communication flows well between regional staff and volunteers.

We are looking for a diverse range of enthusiastic people aged 18 and over who can show empathy, compassion, trust and who have great listening skills. Panel Members are volunteers from local communities who take part in children's hearings. Their role is to listen and make legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people who have been referred to the Children's Panel. Panel Members ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision made "because every decision, no matter how big or small, has an impact on the life of the child or young person in the hearing". To drive A-ND’s minibus, transporting people we support and staff from School to our facilities at Carnie Drive. The driver is responsible for the condition of the minibus and the safety of all the passengers. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • To safely drive our minibus to and from planned locations. • To carry out regular safety and maintenance checks of the minibus, reporting any faults, repairs or concerns to the team leaders in a timely manor. • To keep accurate records required for the operational running and maintenance of the bus. • To ensure standards of confidentiality are maintained at all times in line with A-ND policy and procedures. • To work in a flexible manner. • To work positively and effectively with other members of the team & liaise effectively with agencies, colleagues, stakeholders and partners. • To keep the minibus clean, tidy and to a high standard. The driver must ensure there is enough fuel for the following day, (never less than a 1/2 tank of fuel). • To know the location of the fire extinguisher and first aid box. • To check the contents of the first aid box and keep stock replenished • To ensure emergency exits and gangways are kept clear. • To ensure all passengers wear seat belts. • To keep to Highway code when driving the vehicle.
