Supporting a local charity aimed at inclusiveness and working to promote, sustain and increase individual education and access to local, fresh grown produce. To help alleviate food poverty, to promote healthy living and access to outdoor spaces and to enhance community cohesiveness. To support and empower those who are impacted by health.
Various roles are available depending on preference. We have a wide list of opportunities from helping in the gardens, becoming a lead volunteer, mentoring other volunteers, helping out at activities and open days in the community gardens, being involved in the online presence of the charity eg taking pictures and possibly helping with IT. We are also involved with several other initiatives and we are happy to discuss volunteer involvement in these areas too, where appropriate.
Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
An example of events you could be delivering a first aid talk and demo to, are primary and secondary schools, small university groups, local community groups, charities, summer fairs, shopping centres. Some of the skills you could be teaching include how to provide CPR and apply a defib, different bandages and how to use them, and basic information on various health conditions. Not only that but all the training needed, is provided by us at no cost to you!
A fantastic opportunity to help. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.

We are looking for someone who is skilled in the use of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and would be responsible for the establishment or maintaining active social media accounts, researching and creating creative content for the different social media channels, identifying opportunities to establish relationships with other community groups, developing other potential social media channels and keeping up to date with what is going on locally.
You will be expected to create posts for social media and once they have been approved for use by staff post them on DDWA social media platforms. The role is home based and it is expected that people can use their own equipment to post content.
You will be helping a group project designed to help refugees living in Inverness to get out in the local area (and maybe further afield!) to experience hillwalking in the Highlands. We want to give them the opportunity to see more of the beautiful nature we have in Highland, and to learn skills and gain experience which will enable them to access outdoor space beyond the end of the program.
In order to reach different start points for our walks we need to hire a minibus- and here is where you come in! We need a team of competent drivers who hold minibus licenses who will help us to get the group out of town and into more varied locations. It will involve picking up the community minibus from Nairn, meeting the participants, driving with the group and the mountain leaders to the walk start point, and returning the journey at the end. You will also be able to join the group walks and explore together, while meeting new people.
