Since Universal Credit came online in Clackmannanshire, CTSI have employed an IT and Employability Trainer within their team, who has a focus on supporting claimants with the online system. This is done on a drop-in basis across the County.
As demand for generalised IT support is growing as we emerge from the pandemic, CTSI recruits IT and digital support volunteers to assist in supporting people on a 1:1 basis. The volunteer will also be recording the client's name and what they assisted them with.
Tasks may include:
- Assisting with online job searches
- Meet people 1:1 or through small groups while maintaining Covid restrictions
- Help people build their confidence by walking through general IT tasks including: how to use Microsoft Word to write a CV or cover letter; setting up and/or using an email account etc.
- Assist with CV/cover letters/job application forms
- Supporting people to make their online claim for Universal Credit, and updating their online journal.
**This role needs volunteers to have strong communication skills, not necessarily experts in IT hardware and programs.**
This role will be based in various locations across the County, and so you would be able to choose the location(s) that suit you. CTSI are looking for a commitment of at least one session per week, which usually last between 1-3 hours (depending on the location).

Clackmannanshire Citizens Advice Bureau is recruiting volunteers for a number of roles within their busy Alloa office located in the town centre.
Clacks CAB assist members of the public with problems with debt and benefits but we advise on all manner of topics, including: energy, employment, consumer, immigration and housing etc.
Clackmannanshire Citizens Advice Bureau run a comprehensive training programme for trainee advisers which provides support and mentoring with an experienced adviser. So applicants must be willing to make a commitment of a year to the post. In return, your travel expenses will be paid by the bureau and there is access to external training once all initial training is completed.
Many advisers have gained useful experience and qualifications whilst volunteering for CAB which have helped them gain employment.

We are a national voluntary organisation whose mission is to campaign for the human rights of people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is to ensure that nobody faces dementia alone. Our Café Volunteers ensure the smooth running of Alzheimer Scotland Cafes that operate within our Dementia Resource Centres and in other external Community Venues. These include those named D-Cafés, Memory Cafés and Dementia Café’s.

What the role involves:
This role will support the routine activity of our Cafes, providing a warm welcome to those who use the facility. People living with dementia, their family and friends and anyone with an interest in dementia can attend these Cafes. The role may vary but is likely to include;
• Providing a warm welcome to and recording the attendance of people visiting the café
• Offering and providing refreshments to the people who attend the cafe.
• Listening to and interacting with people living with dementia, family members and the general public who attend the Café.
• Where appropriate signpost to Alzheimer Scotland staff or other services that may be helpful.
• To monitor café supplies (e.g. tea, coffee, biscuits) and arrange ordering or buying as required, in accordance with the local procedure in place for doing so.
• To follow Alzheimer Scotland procedures regarding safe cash handling and receipt of donated income as required.
• Keeping up to date with Alzheimer Scotland news and our work across Scotland.

This is a voluntary role and support will be provided by staff of Alzheimer Scotland as required.

Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
An example of events you could be delivering a first aid talk and demo to, are primary and secondary schools, small university groups, local community groups, charities, summer fairs, shopping centres. Some of the skills you could be teaching include how to provide CPR and apply a defib, different bandages and how to use them, and basic information on various health conditions. Not only that but all the training needed, is provided by us at no cost to you!

West Links parkrun is a free weekly 5km event for participants of all standards, which takes place every Saturday at 9:30am in West Links Park, Queen’s Drive, Arbroath, DD11 1QD .
It offers an opportunity for all the local community, regardless of age or gender, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the outdoors and get physically active. We want to encourage people to run, jog, walk and volunteer together – this event is truly open to all and best of all it really is free!
Everyone is welcome to volunteer too, and we’d love you to join in. There are plenty of opportunities to try new roles, apply your skills or learn new ones, be with friends and family, meet people and be a part of the parkrun community.

Many of our roles are open to young people under 18, although some may be restricted due to safeguarding reasons. We never ask anybody to do anything they're not comfortable with and if you want to do a particular volunteer role, please let us know and we'll try to accommodate you. On the day, you are always supported by other volunteers too.

You can do this all while having your own children with you, but you do not have to have children to volunteer at the group, support is available from the local branch and the volunteering team at NCT Head office.
The Forth Valley Sensory Centre (FVSC) was established in 2006 as the first sensory centre in the UK. They are a hub where people with a visual or hearing loss, their friends, families, carers and the wider community can access quality services and advice from their partner organisations. FVSC's vision is a world where those with sensory loss can live confident and inclusive lives.
The Centre run's more than 25 groups and classes as a way to tackle the social isolation that many individuals with sensory loss face. The group also run events and fundraisers throughout the year and have have a café and sensory garden which is open to the public Monday – Friday.
They have recently received funding to establish their own Wee County Hub in Clackmannanshire and are looking for volunteers to help bring theirservices to as many people as possible.
The main part of the role is to bring group attendees from their homes or a pick-up point to the Hub and then when the group is finished, taking them home or to a drop-off point. The driver is welcome to come back at a later time when the group is over or to stay for the group and take part. If there is something that volunteers would like to do, please just get in touch as we can be very flexible and add to the role.
