Our Save the Children Shop in Broughty Ferry has been a much loved part of the local community for years and continues to be hugely popular with customers and supporters, thanks to the kindness and generosity of the wonderful volunteer team. If you would like to volunteer with us all you will need is some enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference. The role is diverse, taking place on the shop floor and behind the scenes. Volunteer tasks include anything from sorting donations, steaming clothes, pricing products, managing the till, and helping with the window displays. You can choose how much time you dedicate, and we’ll give you training and support along the way. No special skills are needed, and we welcome people from all nationalities and backgrounds. Your donation of time, creativity and kindness can help us change the future for children all over the world!

You don't need to be a social media or marketing expert for this role - just able to use the internet, email and confident talking to people. We’ll tell you about our latest national fundraising activities, emergency appeals and campaign messages so you can tell others and encourage them to take part, support and attend events. You’ll research local opportunities, and contact local businesses, schools and local groups. You’ll also find free ways to tell your community about what’s happening locally and nationally. The Community Fundraising Manager is only a phone call away for support and you’ll meet up with them regularly to make promotional plans and for any mutual updates. It’s a really flexible role which can fit around your other commitments. If you’re over 18 and can commit to at least two hours a week for a minimum of six months please get in touch.

We’re looking for friendly, sociable people to bring HMS Unicorn’s history to life for our visitors. We’re the oldest ship in Scotland so there’s lots of stories to tell about our past! You will be trained to give tours of HMS Unicorn to our visitors and answer their questions. You’ll develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for our historic ship combined with excellent customer service and communication skills. Volunteers will be given relevant training and support by the Volunteering, Engagement and Learning Officer. Giving tours will involve being able to move between decks using the ladderways (only ways of access) around the ship. The key tasks will include: • Learning about the history of HMS Unicorn. • Working with members of the public – giving tours and answering questions in a helpful and friendly way. • Supporting the Museum staff in acting as the main point of welcome for all visitors to HMS Unicorn. As a Volunteer Befriender you will support young people in your local community with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties. You will be part of a knowledgeable and experienced team that are committed to improving the quality of life for young people and their families. You will be enthusiastic and committed to making a positive change for young people. In your role as a Volunteer Befriender you will: • Develop and promote a positive relationship with the young person you are matched with • Establish and maintain appropriate boundaries in the befriending relationship • Agree the types of activities the young person would like to undertake, ensuring the activities comply with the service's safety requirements • Assist the young person in working towards the overall project outcomes • Acknowledge the young person's right to make decisions for themselves, which is non-judgmental and enables them to achieve their goals • Be consistent and dependable in supporting a young person and their family • Recognise that the relationship with the young person may be challenging, ensuring that you remain professional at all times • Agree to abide by the confidentiality policy and any other policies and procedures of the service • Work in conjunction with members of staff to provide a quality service, by participating in support and supervision sessions with the Project Co‐ordinator, referring concerns about the young person where appropriate and completing monitoring forms • Offer an accepting and understanding presence and work within a non‐discriminatory framework. • Attend all training that SLCo provides to assist you in your role. • Provide updates/feedback around how the sessions went after you have met with the young person • Ensure that the Project Co-ordinator is aware of all meetings and advised of any changes or cancelations to any planned session with a young person

Our Community hub is in need of Volunteer Minibus Drivers. We have a couple of opportunities for drivers; do you have flexible spare time to enable service users to get to and from their Tuesday evening group once a fortnight? Or “as and when” required be able to help with planned trips and outings in and around Dundee or further afield? This is a great opportunity to do a little volunteering and or gain some work experience, meeting others and having an enjoyable experience whilst enabling our client group to participate in activities in the community using our organisation's minibus. The role involves picking up and dropping off service users in and around Dundee. A full driving licence is needed with no endorsements. The volunteer must be aged 25 or over in order to meet the criteria for our minibus insurance policy, If you feel you could help, we would love to hear from you!

Welcome guide volunteers are mobile on the main concourse of Ninewells Hospital. The volunteers provide a warm welcome to patients, visitors and staff coming into the hospital. The volunteers will approach people who may be looking lost or needing additional assistance around the hospital. They can provide directions to appointments, clinics or wards as requested and can if required escort people to their destination within the hospital. They are knowledgable of site information for example locations of public toilets, refreshments, public transport information

We are looking for practical people who will help us to maintain the general upkeep of HMS Unicorn for our visitors now and in the future. This will be done through cleaning and other practical tasks on board the ship and on the dockside and approach to the ship. There will also be the opportunity to assist the Maintenance Officer with longer ongoing projects on board the ship. You will develop an enthusiasm for our historic ship and knowledge of its layout and structure as well as practical skills in keeping it clean and presentable. Volunteers will be given relevant training and supported in these activities.
