We are a charity who support children and young adults suffering from genetic disorders and we are currently in need of new fundraising managers. We are looking for committed individuals who can spare a few hours per week to aid the charity in organising fundraising events. We are currently based in Dundee, Scotland and so volunteers from that area would be preferable. However, we will welcome candidates from all over the country to work from home. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity but full time vacancies will open up for successful participants.

MCR Pathways has been partnering with schools since 2007 so we know just how amazing the young people of Scotland are. However, sometimes due to situations out of their control, young people face challenges that make it more difficult for them to succeed. That’s why providing the simple support of a mentor is so important and has been proven to make a life-changing difference. This is where you can help...
MCR recruits and trains volunteer mentors who are matched with a young person that shares similar interests, hobbies or career aspirations. Mentors meet with their young person at their school for just one hour per week and the difference this makes is transformational.
The mentoring relationship is unique as young people establish a friendship with someone who’s there, just for them and is not a teacher, parent, guardian or counsellor. The impact on their life is huge. Recent ScotCen research shows 81.6% of mentored care-experienced pupils left school for college, university or a job, compared with 56.3% of those young people not being mentored.
We are hoping to help even more young people in the area reach their potential and are looking for over 150 mentors from Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
In Aberdeen St Machar Academy has been part of the programme since August 2018 and, in 2020 was joined by Northfield, Hazlehead, Dyce, Harlaw and Lochside Academies.
Aberdeenshire schools participating in the programme are Banff, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Peterhead and The Gordons Schools Huntly
The only qualification you need to be a mentor is the desire to help. All young people are different and have different needs, so it’s important that our mentors come from all walks of life.
Volunteer mentors are asked to commit just one hour a week for a minimum of one year and will be fully trained and PVG checked before being matched with a young person from an Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire school.
The building of the relationship with a young person is facilitated by our fantastic MCR Pathways Coordinators who are based in each school and work with our young people on a daily basis.
We’re asking you to #BeTheBridge between a young person’s talent and life possibilities. For only one hour per week, you can change a life. This year, why not do something to make a difference that lasts a lifetime.

Volunteering with us is fun and flexible. Whether you help out once a week, fortnight, month or term or just at special events or camps, there is bound to be a role you can play. If it's 1 hour a week or 168, there's a role for you.
As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership.
You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved. Do you have first aid knowledge? Are you good with numbers? Handy in the kitchen? Or are you a DIY whizz? We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways.
Many of our helpers and leaders are parents of our youth members because they’ve seen first-hand how Scouting benefits young people and want to give something back.
See www.gordondistrictscouts.org.uk for more details.

BBC Children in Need is recruiting new volunteers to be members of their Scotland Advisory Committee, and the Chair of the Committee.
The Advisory Committee, and the Chair of the Committee, are key parts of their grant-making process and they work closely with the Scotland staff team to ensure that BBC Children in Need grants continue to go where they are most needed.
Each Advisory Committee member is part of a small team, who collectively bring together a range of skills, knowledge and experience. This can include: working with children and young people; the voluntary sector; disability; social services; equal opportunities; business planning and finance; the rights of the child, and lived experience of some of the challenges we seek to address.
BBC Children in Need highly value the benefits of having different points of view and experiences on their Advisory Committee and welcome applications from everyone irrespective of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, faith and religion, disability and age.
They would especially welcome applications from those with experience of supporting children and young people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, early years and those with a disability. They would also encourage applications from young adults or individuals who may have benefited in the past from the support of one of the projects we have funded.
A full application pack, and all other information about volunteering with BBC Children in Need is available at https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/
**Please note, the closing date for applications for both roles is Thursday, 11th March at 5pm.

Help support children aged 8 and over, and their families, who have worries about their emotional health and wellbeing. By promoting positive relationships, we empower families to understand and improve their emotional wellbeing. We tailor our support to meet the needs of individual families.
What will I be doing?
Usually our volunteering is face to face but currently this is difficult to achieve in most circumstances, so contact may be online initially.
Volunteers build relationships with families in different ways including;
Family Wellbeing – helping to establish and support family play and activities or offering support and encouragement to help a parent or carer maintain their relationship with their child/ren.
Befriending – developing a 1 to 1 supportive, reliable, social relationship with a child, young person or adult by arranging weekly opportunities to experience new activities and develop interests. Befriending relationships can help build self-esteem and confidence and supports personal and social development.
Group Work – working with groups of young people, parents and children; supporting the work of Children 1st staff within group sessions.

Have you ever thought about giving back to your community? Your help could provide a safe space for Children & Young People to go each week to Learn, Grow and Discover.
As a volunteer with the Boys’ Brigade you can become involved in helping our leaders facilitate a wide variety of activities for children from Primary 1 to Primary 7. Our Roslin Company meet every fortnight on a Wednesday evening from 6pm.
Each meeting varies but typical activities include games and sports, arts and crafts and lots of skills-based activities that go toward the achievements programme. Not to mention going on outings! With more volunteers we will be able to do more activities and hopefully be able to take the young people to camp!
All we ask is that our volunteers are enthusiastic, committed and enjoy working with children and young people. Being able to work well as part of a small team is beneficial.
All volunteers must have PVG clearance which we will facilitate.
