Technical Set Up volunteer (Disco, Movies & Karaoke)

  • Unique Friends Together

UNIQUE Friends Together is a Community Group based in Ayr in the south west of Scotland. Our purpose is to promote inclusivity and integration for young people aged 16 to 30 with additional support needs. We do this by organising and running safe and accessible social events and activities such as disco, karaoke, games, cinema, trips etc. New people are always welcome to come along to any of our events - we love seeing new faces. The group is run entirely by volunteers and managed by a small committee of five Trustees. Our trustees and event volunteers include parents/guardians of young people with ASN. We are looking for a volunteer who can provide the technical know how to set up equipment for our various social activities and events, for example discos, cinema/movie nights and karaoke. We have regular social events every second Friday evening with occasional activities happening from time to time. These events provide fun, friendship and social inclusion for the young people who come along. We are based in Heathfield Community Centre in Ayr and the events take place there. We need someone with the technical know how and a few hours to spare as a volunteer to help us make sure that we can deliver events as promised. This is a great opportunity to share your technical wizardry and make sure our activities are well set up and successful! Interested? Could this be you? To find out more please email enq.uniquefriends@gmail.com

Event Volunteers We are always on the look out for great event volunteers. Without them we simply would not be able to run our events which benefit so many young people with additional support needs. Our event volunteers encourage and support the young people to participate and develop self confidence. If you can spare two or three hours every fortnight or even once a month to help out at our events then we would love to hear from you. This is a great opportunity to share your social skills (and dancing skills sometimes! ;-) and make sure our activities are well supported, safe and successful! Interested? Could this be you? Riding for Disabled Volunteer

  • Riding for the Disabled (Forres, Nairn & District Group)

Volunteering with the Forres, Nairn & District RDA is one of the most rewarding things you can do, not only for the children who will benefit enormously from your contribution, but also you personally will gain so much. We need volunteers who can help in any number of ways, not just helping on the rides, or being directly involved with the ponies. From crazy fundraisers to baking cakes, event organising to poo picking, as well as walking with riders, volunteering with us is so rewarding for all involved. No experience of horses necessary as there are so many things that volunteers can do where they don’t need to be in charge of a horse/pony and all training can be provided. Volunteer opportunities will be allocated depending on preferences of the volunteer. The Forres & Nairn group RDA is currently held at Muiryhall near Elgin. Sessions are 9.30- 1pm and are only in term time. The children come by minibus from many of the local primary and secondary schools. They are the ONLY RDA group to not charge anything to the riders and they receive no central funding so everything has to be fundraised. To operate safely they need many volunteers as they often need 3 volunteers/pony depending on the disability.

Art Yarn Volunteer

  • Moray Reach Out

Moray Reach Out is a charity that runs several social enterprises that provide work and training opportunities to vulnerable adults throughout Moray. We are looking for volunteers to help support our vulnerable adults. For our projects, communication skills and empathy are essential. The Moray Reach Out Art Yarn Project delivers the many processes of turning locally farmed Shetland sheep fleece into saleable hanks of wool. This offers opportunity for all abilities to be involved, from washing the fleece, teasing the wool fibres open, carding the wool ready for spinning, spinning the wool and hanking it for sale. Everyone of these processes is carried out by hand, allowing for physical activity, reducing stress levels and developing social skills as you will working as part of a team. Volunteers need no experience of working with wool or spinning. There are so many facets to this project, there is something for every skill level. If you do spin, great! If you would like to learn, you soon will!
