As part of a team, to welcome, supervise and signpost visitors into an exciting new Pop In & Play Table Tennis facility in Centre West, East Kilbride Shopping Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to support South Lanarkshire’s first Table Tennis Pop In & Play facility in East Kilbride Shopping Centre. The initiative is led by East Kilbride Table Tennis Club with support from Table Tennis Scotland and EK Life. The facility lets visitors to the centre literally “pop in and play” Table Tennis whilst they go about their normal business. We need volunteers with an interest in sport/activity to help us supervise the facility by welcoming guests, showing them Table Tennis basics, managing table space and providing guests with additional information about where they can play Table Tennis in the region. For volunteers who are new to table tennis, we will buddy you up with experienced table tennis’ers in the early days – so don’t worry about that aspect! Current opening hours are 11am to 2pm, Mon-Fri. However, we want the facility to be open as many hours as possible and as such, we aim to support all your available volunteer hours as best we can. The Western Isles Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are looking for volunteer Youth Expedition Leaders. Not all expeditions are done on foot, although this tends to be logistically most simple so many are, but can also be by other forms of transport that don’t have a motor. Options include cycling, kayaking, sailing, horse-riding, coasteering, long boarding etc. If you have experience in any of these activities (or others you can think of) then we would be very happy to hear from you! Bronze expeditions are for 2 days and 1 night, Silver are 3 days and 2 night, and Gold are 4 days and 3 night. At Bronze, there is just 1 expedition to complete, but at Silver and Gold each group complete a ‘practice’ expedition at each level, and then if leaders are happy to go on to complete their ‘qualifying’ expedition, which is assessed. If expeditions are not your thing, you can help out with the ‘admin’ side of things supporting the young people with their ‘edofe’, logging on and uploading their evidence and ensuring that their profile is up to date and assessor reports are in. Training will be provided for any new volunteers. Commitment would be various hours between April – September for Expeditions and the admin role would be ad-hoc all year round.

We are a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. About the Volunteer Instructor role: Whether you opt to be a uniformed leader, or wear your own clothes, you can be hands-on, teaching cadets. You'll run lessons, activities, games, projects and events that help cadets progress through The Cadet Experience, gaining qualifications and confidence as they go. Whatever your experience and skills, they could be used to help young people flourish –catering, archery, meteorology, navigation, orienteering, first aid, engineering, photography, marketing, football coaching, IT, social media, finance, minibus driving – there’s no limit. Whatever your interest, you could bring it to the unit. You could also share your skills out on the water with the next generation, through the opportunity to teach water sports such as kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing. If you don’t have any water sport qualifications, we’ll provide you with all the equipment, training and opportunity to gain national qualifications with the Royal Yachting Association, for example. All you need is lots of enthusiasm! We are developing a pioneering Scotland-wide path network for the benefit of all and we need volunteers in Orkney to help us. This is a great opportunity to improve your confidence in navigation skills and help you learn more about your local area. In Orkney you will be auditing data on existing paths or capturing new, currently un-mapped paths. You can do this on foot, by cycling or by driving – we have options to suit all. Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event with over 145,000 people taking part since 2016. The kind-hearted Kiltwalk community have taken big strides for charities close to their hearts and together with The Hunter Foundation, have managed to raise a staggering £42.5 million to date. All funds raised have been distributed to 3,330 Scottish Charities. Our walkers rely on the encouragement and motivation they receive from our volunteers and many report that this is what ultimately gets them across the finish line.
