The Gate is a local Charity set up to prevent or relieve poverty and improve the conditions of life of people who are marginalized, facing exclusion, vulnerable or homeless in the Clackmannanshire area.
They do this by undertaking projects and support which offer practical help, such as A Community Cafe, Soup Pot, Home Starter Packs and a Food Larder service.
However, the Charity aims to establish a community centre to provide a range of services which will include a drop in café type venue, office, training kitchens, showers, laundry, medical room and project work space which will be open to all within the community, people of all faiths and none.
The Gate believe everyone has the right to be treated equally and to feel valued and respected. And they accept people for who they are and without judgement.
The Gate Centre is located in the heart of Alloa town centre in the former North Church building.
To help manage different social media channels. With an aim to maximise engagement, promote volunteering and raise awareness of The Gate Charity.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Establishing an/or maintaining active social media accounts.
• Researching and creating creative content for different social media channels
• Identifying opportunities to establish relationships with local community groups
• Thinking of innovative ways to drive online engagement
• Identifying target audiences and being up to date with current trends.
Skills and Attributes Needed:
• Experience of using Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
• Experience of updating websites.
• Good written communication skills, with accuracy and good attention to detail.
• Ability to think creatively when sharing content.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and motivated to work as an individual.
• Ability to deal in a professional manner when communicating online.
• Basic digital photography experience will be useful but not necessary.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people from all backgrounds from across South Ayrshire.
While qualifications and experience are good to have, what’s more important to us is to have a ‘can do’ attitude and are committed to providing compassionate and informative services to people who have been affected by crime.
You could be a student or recent graduate who is keen to build their CV; or you could be a mid-career professional who is looking to take their life in a different direction. We are open to applications from people from all walks of life.
Victims of crime often feel a range of emotions such as anxiety, confusion and anger, while witnesses may feel confused, anxious and overwhelmed by the court system. As a support volunteer, you will provide help and support in both local communities and within the court environment, ensuring people receive the high-quality support and care they need to move forward after crime.
As a support volunteer, you will make personal contact with people affected by crime, providing them with support at a time when they need it most.
You will:
• Discuss service users’ needs by telephone, face-to-face visits or other means, agreeing next steps at the end of each contact
• Help witnesses feel more confident at court by arranging and conducting court familiarisation visits
• Support service users in the court room and other appropriate locations on the day of a trial, liaising with court officials on behalf of service users
• Give feedback and agree follow-up actions with staff members

The 70/30 Campaign is aiming to reduce child abuse and neglect by 70% by 2030. As a 70/30 Ambassador you will be empowering your local community to protect our children by spreading awareness and gaining support to prevent child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. You will gain new skills, and be part of a large network of volunteers and professionals, while making a real difference in your local community and across the UK.
The role is very flexible and depends on your skills and on the needs in your local area, but you can take part in a range of activities, such as: spreading awareness with people you know and on social media; fundraising; organising events; engaging with MPs, MSPs, AMs and councillors; engaging with local press; expanding your local 70/30 group.
Ambassadors will take part in a training session with a member of the team and are invited to join the bi-monthly national conference call with other ambassadors across the country. Ambassadors usually give 2 or more hours of their time a week, but get in touch if you are interested and don't have much time available as there is always some way you can help!

Volunteers we need you, with you inspiration and motivation to serve as a board member on the Management Board of HALLA (Harlaw Area Lifelong Learning Association).
We are a Board of people who run daytime and evening classes at Kaimhill Learning Centre.
We have a FB page ( @HALLACommunity) where you can see some of our activities and tutored classes.
We meet once a month to discuss new opportunities and management issues, to find new ways of how-to bring people of all ages in the local community into the centre.
We have several weekly, social, informal learning groups where Board members can get to know each other and form a friendly working relationship.
A volunteer should be passionate, enthusiastic and have a keen interest in community matters.
A volunteer does not necessarily require specific skills since we all support each other to develop new skills but if you have specific ones, it would be good to introduce them to the rest of the Board so we can use them to benefit the local community.
The Board would appreciate people with knowledge of IT and office procedures but enthusiasm and interest in the community are equally important.

The Comradeship Circles service aims to reduce loneliness by offering older members of the ex-service community the opportunity to enjoy regular group camaraderie by telephone. A Comradeship Circle will host typically six people on the same day and time each week to chat about a range of topics and interests over the phone. A Volunteer Facilitator or Supervisor will be on every call to encourage discussion and ensure the conversation flows.
We are looking for Technical Support Volunteers who will ensure the smooth running of the Comradeship Circle by connecting veterans to the call, monitoring connection throughout the hour, and updating the contact management database. This role is home based and requires access to a laptop, headphones and the internet.
Main tasks include dialling in the veterans and connecting them to the circle an updating the charity database.
1-2 hours per week at the same time each week (with some flexibility for cover) over a 6 month minimum period.

WaterAid Speakers are trained volunteers that deliver inspiring talks and workshops, to raise awareness about the importance of clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, to transform peoples’ lives for good.
Our Speaker volunteers engage audiences about the important work of WaterAid, inspiring them to take action, as they speak with schools, universities, businesses, youth groups, religious places of worship, service organisations, and many more.
WaterAid Speakers:
•Deliver a minimum of four talks or workshops per year, either online and/or face to face.
•Deliver talks or workshops on key days such as: World Water Day on 22 March, World Toilet Day on 19 November, Menstrual Hygiene Day on 28 May and Global Handwashing Day on 15 October.
•Contact new audiences to organise and deliver talk and workshop opportunities.
•Complete online Speaker Network training and adhere to volunteer guidance and best practise.
•Make use of our public speaking resources (such as PowerPoint presentations) included in our Speaker e-newsletter, emails, and online resource library.
•Keep up to date with our key messages, appeals, campaigns, fundraising and volunteering.
•Regularly liaise with the Speaker Network team about talks and workshops.
•Provide feedback on talks or workshops by completing the online evaluations.
•Provide support to new Speakers around their public speaking development.
•Demonstrate the WaterAid values including being considerate when representing WaterAid and always leaving others with a positive view of our organisation and the work that we do.

Having a conversation can have such a positive impact. That’s why we offer a Friendship Service which listens, provides friendship and offers support. We can talk about all sorts, from current interests, hobbies, personal and professional goals, top tier biscuits, time travel – the list is endless!
The role of a Friendship Caller Volunteer is to provide friendship, companionship and a listening ear to people who are 50 and over and would benefit from a weekly chat. We are looking for volunteers who can volunteer 2-3 hours of their time on the same day each week.
Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. Including:
*Full training on call-handling and our systems will be available to ensure you’re confident taking your first call!
*In addition, on-going training, support and Age Scotland In-House training will be made available to volunteers.
*If you enjoy a blether over the phone and commit to 2 hours per week on the same day, for 6 months we’d love to hear from you!

Award winning IT charity AbilityNet is looking for IT Support volunteers to help people get the most out of technology. We support older and disabled people to use technology, from setting up a new device, to showing how to use zoom or do an internet food shop.
The role would take place in your local area, face to face with clients or help over Teamviewer. You don’t need to be a tech guru to help out. If you use a computer at home or work, and perhaps support family and friends with their tech issues, you are likely to have the skills we are looking for. Relevant guidance and excellent support is provided to all volunteers.
