Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland's Forth Bridge Abseil in June was so successful we are back for another!
Join us as a volunteer at this iconic event on Sunday 13th October 2024 and help people across Scotland live life to the full!
To date, our Fundraising Heroes have raised over £3 million for great causes across Scotland by taking part in this truly inspiring event. Every penny raised for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland goes towards helping people do more than survive when they return home from hospital with a chest, heart or stroke condition – it helps them really live.
We are looking for volunteers to help our Fundraising team ensure this year's event is a success. Various volunteering roles and time slots are available. If you have an enthusiasm for fundraising, like being part of a team, and want to make a real difference to people with our conditions, we'd love to hear from you!

We’d love to hear from you if you could help by coordinating this vital aspect of your local SSAFA branch.
What can you gain from this volunteering role?
Use your skills, knowledge and life experience to benefit others
Give tangible and practical support to your local branch by raising funds used directly to support client
Support and friendship from your local SSAFA branch and the wider SSAFA community
Experience, training, and skills that you can highlight on your CV and in job interviews.
What are we looking for?
Friendly and approachable people with good communication skills including written and spoken English
Confident to deal with the public, potential clients, volunteers, other agencies and SSAFA colleagues – face-to-face, by phone, email or via social media
Experience of running events and or submitting funding applications would be welcome but not essential
Ability to send and receive emails – you will receive your own SSAFA email address
Ability to make enquires about fundraising opportunities by phone, email, letter or by filling in forms
Reliable attitude, keep appointments, update the branch regarding your availability
Ability to maintain confidentiality and keep information safely
Access to public transport or a car to get to meetings and events
Equality, diversity and inclusion
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, abilities, races, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds, and of all faiths and none. SSAFA are committed to making reasonable adjustments to support disabled volunteers, so they have access to the same opportunities and experiences as non-disabled volunteers.
Join our community of incredible volunteer Sooty Box collectors and help us give blind and partially sighted people the support they need.
RNIB needs volunteers to collect and bank donations received through our Sooty Boxes, which play a vital role in generating much-needed funds and raising our profile in local communities. Last year, volunteers collected over £300,000 from sites across the UK.
The role is completely flexible, can be performed by individuals, pairs or groups and the time you dedicate is entirely up to you and your commitments. You can give your time as little or as often as you like! No experience is required as full training and support is given.
A fantastic, enjoyable opportunity to help make a real difference with the RNIB and the people we support. All volunteers are greatly appreciated.
St John Scotland is looking for Volunteer Patient Transport Coordinators to join our Aberdeen & North East team. Although the service is in Moray, you do not have to be located there but have a good understanding of the local geography within Elgin.
As a Coordinator, your role will include volunteering to oversee and manage the volunteer team who provide transport for patients to and from their oncology/renal unit at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.
St John Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service and local NHS boards to provide Patient Transport for people attending oncology and renal clinics. All passengers are referred to us by the Scottish Ambulance Service or NHS clinics.
The service supports patients from across the region living with chronic kidney disease to access dialysis treatment at Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.
Dialysis treatment must be given three times a week, and for patients who would otherwise rely on taxi or ambulance transport, the St John Scotland service means they have a free, reliable and friendly service they can depend on.
The service is currently in it's pilot phase which started in Spring 2024.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) are looking for Volunteer Walk Leaders, to take part and lead walks across the Stirlingshire and Clackmannanshire areas. Normally Walk Leaders are aged 50+ however this is not essential.
Our Walking Group meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Those who participate are older people normally aged 50+ who benefit from the opportunity to get out of the house, meet other people, and keep active. Our walk programme is published each quarter with information on the days/dates of each walk, along with the starting location.
As a Walk Leader, you will lead a walk, ensuring that all Walkers are safe during the activity.
Training and support is provided.
