Not all of Outfit Moray's outdoor instructors can drive a minibus, so we often need drivers to transport our groups from our base in Lossiemouth to the activity location in Moray. Minibus drivers require a D1 category on their licence. Join our pool of drivers!

Our tea party drivers are a vital part of the Re-engage team.
Tea parties provide a lifeline of friendship for our older people, and the regular, warm, friendly chats and
companionship provide a vital link with the outside world from which they have become isolated. Drivers
take older people to the parties and stay with them to enjoy the get-together. Over time, drivers and older
guests get to know each other well and together you will spend many hours full of fun, laughter, and
stories.
As a tea party driver, you liaise with your group coordinator and take older guests to and from the tea
parties each month. Staying at the tea party is part of your role, so it’s much more than being a driver.
You will need to have a full, clean, driving license, and a or PVG. You will also need to check that you are covered by your regular motor insurance policy to do
this role.
Tasks include:
*Driving one to two older guests using your own car to a tea party venue and returning them home
again after the event .
*Staying at the tea party to help with conversation and serve refreshments.
*Liaising with the group coordinator to confirm which older guests you will pick up.
Informing the group coordinator of any safeguarding concerns or issues you might have.
*Following all guidance in your driver training modules to ensure that the tea parties are enjoyable,
appropriate, and in line with our charitable aims.
*Completing a driver declaration before your first tea party and on an annual basis. The declaration is to
confirm you will adhere to Re-engage's policies and procedures and that you have completed the relevant
training provided for your role.
This is a flexible, voluntary role that can easily be fitted in around your own lifestyle and availability. As a
tea party driver, you will be responsible for picking up one or two older guests from their homes usually on a
Sunday afternoon once a month. You will drive them to either a host's home or a community venue for an
afternoon get-together to socialise and enjoy some refreshments. The parties last around two hours after
which you drive them home again.
Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to volunteer as a driver.

Aberlour Options Moray offer a safe, homely environment for children with disabilities to come and stay for a short break that gives their families a rest from their caring role. Volunteer Drivers can help support the service by assisting children and young people with travel during their stay. This can involving picking children up from their home with a staff member, taking them home after their stay, or helping them to access their regular activities while staying with the respite service.
The impact you can make...
Being away from home can be a daunting experience for children and young people. Volunteer Drivers play a key role in helping children and young people feel comfortable, secure and at ease from the beginning of their stay and throughout. Volunteer Drivers can impact on a child or young person’s experience through positive interactions, supporting them to participate in new experiences and to have an enjoyable stay with Aberlour Options Moray.
The benefits to you...
Volunteer Drivers can gain valuable experience of working with children with complex needs, and learning how to support and encourage them to participate in activities. Volunteers can develop their own skills and confidence in working with others, while being part of a supporting and engaging staff team.

As a volunteer driver you will be helping clients to attend medical or social appointments - this can be to the hospital, GP, dentist or to visit family/friends; to the hairdressers or to a lunch group. Journeys can be local or longer. For example, a client may have an appointment in Aberdeen or Moray. Volunteers can also choose to help a client with shopping - using your own vehicle to drive to a shop to do a shop or accompany a client to the supermarket.

People may have acquired their brain injury through an accident or assault, brain tumour, post operative problems, stroke or another illness which caused the brain to be starved of essential nutrients. People with ABI do not fit neatly into physical or mental disability. They may show no sign of injury on the outside but may find planning, communicating or concentrating very difficult. They may be severely physically disabled but have great mental skills and capabilities trapped by their physical disabilities. They will all be lonely and lacking in confidence and their families will be finding life tough.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to make a difference to the life of someone else. It can also be an incredible opportunity to enhance your own life and build new skills to help your personal and career development. Our drivers provide transport for people affected by Cystic Fibrosis to hospital appointments. Our clients do not need any physical help getting in and out of the vehicle. Children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis have to attend clinic appointments in hospitals to have their health monitored, usually every three months.
Traveling in public transport poses risks of infection and waiting for transport in our typical inclement weather is undesirable because of their chronic lung condition. Our drivers provide transport from home ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. This service makes a real difference by reducing some of the pressure on families at this time.

Over the last 20 years, MCHLN has grown from a fledgling organisation to one supporting some 200 older people a week. We have an existing network of 80 volunteers, but the demand on our service is such that we are constantly struggling to keep up with it! Your role would be to drive older people in the Mearns area (Portlethen to just North of Montrose) to/from appointments benefitting health & wellbeing e.g. GP & hospital appointments, shopping runs etc. We pay mileage at 45p/mile and you'd be using your own car. Volunteering is proven to positively impact wellbeing - so it's a win-win for the community & you!
