Volunteer Minibus Drivers for Phoenix Club

  • Inchgarth Community Centre

Inchgarth Community Centre is currently looking for new Volunteer Minibus Drivers for our Phoenix Club. The Phoenix Club is a social club for people with physical and learning disabilities. It is a very important place for our members as it's often the only opportunity people have to talk and socialise during the week. Some of them live far away from the centre, or just cannot come here by themselves, hence the need for a driver. The Phoenix Club is held every Monday from 7-9pm, while the driver would need to be at Inchgarth at 5.15pm to get the bus and start the round. The role is only driving, there will be an escort in the bus to support and manage every needs from our members. The driver is welcome to stay in the centre during the Phoenix Club, and we'll be happy to help you with coffee and a slice of cake! At the end of the club, the driver would take home our members. To be able to drive you would need a D1 on your license. If you wish to volunteer, or know someone who might be interested, please get in touch with us. Even once a month would be great and your help would make a massive difference to some of societies most socially isolated and vulnerable adults and ensure people can get to their club. For more details please contact Jules Ory, Inchgarth Community Centre Volunteer Coordinator, at email volunteerinchgarth@gmail.com or tel.: 01224 325191.

Shop Drivers

  • Home-Start Aberdeen

Home-Start Aberdeen supports local families, who may be vulnerable or suffering from isolation, with emotional and practical support in their own homes. Our charity shop, which raises valuable funds towards our work, opened in 2012. It is located in the heart of the city at 101 George Street, opposite John Lewis. A key component of the shop’s success is our collections/uplift service within the city. This helps to ensure that we have a steady supply of quality stock for the shop floor. The shop is therefore always keen to recruit new volunteer drivers, who could assist us by collecting donations from homes and organisations within Aberdeen (we also uplift from Westhill). This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys driving and has some spare time to become part of our pool of volunteer drivers. A full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. No fixed commitment in terms of hours is required. Becoming a volunteer driver is a rewarding way to support Home-Start Aberdeen’s work with local families. We are now one of the largest Home-Start schemes in Scotland; this volunteer position is therefore also a good opportunity to contribute to the work of a wider team. For further details please contact Karen Milne, Charity Shop Manager, E Mail: shop@homestartaberdeen.org.uk / tel.: 01224 622390
