Volunteer Drivers with Boness Car 4U will be asked to take people registered with any Bo'ness Medical Practice who have been diagnosed with cancer from their homes to places of treatment, then home again, using their own vehicles. The service the volunteers provide is much needed giving patients the dignity, respect and convenience that they deserve at a difficult time in their lives and is greatly appreciated by them. We know that helping in this way gives volunteers a lot of role satisfaction and below we've noted more information about what the role looks like in practice, and what the expectations are so interested people can make sure it's the right role for them: We pay our drivers 40 pence per mile for fuel used and this had no effect on any benefits the driver may be in receipt of. Insurance premiums should be unaffected but we advise drivers to notify their insurers to let then know they intend to use the car for voluntary work. Each volunteer driver will be asked to undergo a process of safeguarding training and (in order to comply with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups scheme) following this they will be PVG checked/gain a PVG certificate for their voluntary role with BC4U (this is cost free to the volunteer). Drivers are issued with a clear plastic cough screen which is fitted to the vehicle headrests which provides a physical sneeze guard between the front and rear seats of the car, and are also issued with a holdall containing PPE. Drivers are notified of the name, address and phone number of the patient and the time date and location of the place of treatment. The driver phones the patient the night before the drive, confirming the time they will be picked up and due to the pandemic will ask the patient if they are displaying any of the recognised symptoms of COVID-19. At the pick up they will confirm this information and take a temperature reading of the patient using a contactless infrared forehead thermometer. The patient will travel in the back seat of the car, diagonally opposite the driver and must wear a face covering if it is safe for them to do so. On arrival at the place of treatment the driver ensures the patient has their mobile phone number to tell them when they are finished and ready to be picked up. If the course of treatment is lengthy, it may be arranged that one driver takes the patient to hospital and another conveys them home. BC4U hopes to launch service in 2022, we are keen to build a bank of volunteers in advance of launching our services.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to help deliver coats/jackets to Lossiemouth or Lhanbryde and other pop-up Venues. 1 or 2 hours per week would be amazing. Mileage will be reimbursed.

Our Community hub is in need of Volunteer Minibus Drivers. We have a couple of opportunities for drivers; do you have flexible spare time to enable service users to get to and from their Tuesday evening group once a fortnight? Or “as and when” required be able to help with planned trips and outings in and around Dundee or further afield? This is a great opportunity to do a little volunteering and or gain some work experience, meeting others and having an enjoyable experience whilst enabling our client group to participate in activities in the community using our organisation's minibus. The role involves picking up and dropping off service users in and around Dundee. A full driving licence is needed with no endorsements. The volunteer must be aged 25 or over in order to meet the criteria for our minibus insurance policy, If you feel you could help, we would love to hear from you!

The Yusuf Youth Initiative (YYI) was set up in 2004 by a group of young enthusiasts who are driven by the desire to work for their community and improve their society. The group have undertaken a number of community projects on a local and national scale. Volunteers Delivery Drivers are needed for the Foodbank. This will involve picking up the food parcels around lunchtime from their office at West Pitkerro Industrial Estate and delivering them to those in need's home using your own vehicle. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed. The volunteers can pick up the parcel any time between 11:30 hours to 12:50 hours and then deliver it to the clients at their convenient time. Deliveries are made on Monday to Friday.

As the population of the 65+ community in Dundee increases so do the number of elderly people who are isolated and lonely. Help us to keep older people independent, safe and well in their own homes by being a volunteer driver, enabling older people to get to appointments, do their own shopping or enjoy meeting up with friends and family. You will hold a full drivers licence and if you have access to a suitable and reliable car you must hold comprehensive insurance. You will be happy to collect our customers from their own home and drive them to their desired location. Where appropriate you may have to wait for a period of time before taking the passenger home. Your responsibilities will include cash handling, light paperwork and you will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme. All costs associated with your role as a volunteer will be met by DCT. DCT are keen to recruit drivers from anywhere in Dundee.

Our drivers are expected to complete the daily bus checklist form. Ensure bus has enough fuel for journey/phone is charged and has credit. Drivers to complete general inspection of vehicle, reporting any faults or damage to management as soon as possible. Take part in the morning team meeting. Drivers are responsible for securing walking aids and ensuring all seat belts are fastened, doors are closed and portable step is on board (where applicable) before moving off. To take charge of safety and movement of any other volunteers and service users while travelling on bus and ensure all staff are wearing fluorescent jackets. Bus hygiene and checking safety appliances are in place and complete, while securing gates on return to the centre are all part of the day. Volunteer should read notice board for updates regarding training or fundraising activities. Drivers to assist with other tasks when necessary.
