IT Support Volunteers

  • AbilityNet (Aberdeen Services)

“A digital world accessible to all” Award winning IT charity AbilityNet is looking for IT Support volunteers to help people get the most out of technology. We support older and disabled people to use technology, from setting up a new device, to showing how to use zoom or do an internet food shop. The role would take place in your local area, face to face with clients or help over Teamviewer. You don’t need to be a tech guru to help out. If you use a computer at home or work, and perhaps support family and friends with their tech issues, you are likely to have the skills we are looking for. Relevant guidance and excellent support is provided to all volunteers. A fantastic opportunity to help and make a real difference for people. All volunteer assistance is greatly appreciated. For more information please contact Donna Baker-Smith at email community@abilitynet.org.uk or telephone 01926 956850.

Committee Members

  • HALLA - Harlaw Area Lifelong Learning Association
  • Board/trustee role

Volunteers we need you, with you inspiration and motivation to serve as a board member on the Management Board of HALLA (Harlaw Area Lifelong Learning Association). We are a Board of people who run daytime and evening classes at Kaimhill Learning Centre. We have a FB page ( @HALLACommunity) where you can see some of our activities and tutored classes. We meet once a month to discuss new opportunities and management issues, to find new ways of how-to bring people of all ages in the local community into the centre. We have several weekly, social, informal learning groups where Board members can get to know each other and form a friendly working relationship. A volunteer should be passionate, enthusiastic and have a keen interest in community matters. A volunteer does not necessarily require specific skills since we all support each other to develop new skills but if you have specific ones, it would be good to introduce them to the rest of the Board so we can use them to benefit the local community. The Board would appreciate people with knowledge of IT and office procedures but enthusiasm and interest in the community are equally important. This is an amazing opportunity to discover your “hidden talents” !!! You are very welcome to attend a committee meeting and see if this is for you. WE ARE WAITING TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR FRIENDY AND DIVERSE HALLA BOARD !!!!! A fantastic opportunity to help and make a difference for the community. All assistance is greatly appreciated. For further details please contact Giuseppina Caligiuri, HALLA Vice Chair at email Hallaassociation@gmail.com or telephone: 01224 498 164 / 07511377364.

Website/IT Volunteers

  • The Living Well Project

The aim of our small charity is to improve the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of those who feel isolated and also to offer support to those living with dementia, as well as their carers. We offer a Befriending Service for older people as well as dementia cafés in local communities. We are looking for someone to develop a new website and to review and improve our IT and email set-up. You will need IT skills and experience of website development as well as practical experience and knowledge. We are a team of three who have limited technical expertise so we need someone with the necessary skills to liaise and communicate with us in simple English! We are very enthusiastic about what we do and try to find the fun in things, but IT issues are SO not fun for us and we need help! This is a great opportunity for someone to develop and showcase their IT skills. It could suit someone who finds themselves with spare time and who would like to offer our charity the benefit of their experience. For an informal chat to find out more information about what’s involved, please call Ruth on 07423 071448 or email us at admin@thelivingwellproject.org.uk
