This is an exciting role for you to use your love of working with people to empower the community, and to drive a groundswell of community action on climate change. You will work with volunteer hosts who will invite 8 – 12 friends and family to attend a Climate Conversation online or in their home. At these events, you will present to them about climate change (using our prepared scripts), the urgency for action and facilitate discussion that leads to a commitment to take more effective action.
Our mission is to create the social climate for effective climate action in Scotland. Key Responsibilities
- Imparting the urgency and scale of climate change to the people invited by the friends and family of each host
- Inspiring attendees to commit to taking effective action on climate change
- Attending monthly Ongoing Facilitator Training (1 hour?)
- Recruiting more people to join as hosts and facilitators
- Administration and record keeping of your Conversations
- Maintaining our a host database and your own activity spreadsheet
- Evaluating Conversations and providing feedback for improvement

This role is ideal for social work students, an interest in the care sector or retired professionals.
Support Session Volunteers help our clients with general advocacy, supporting people with a variety of challenges. This helps us to reduce waitlists and support more individuals by:
• Helping clients understand about advocacy
• Supporting clients to self-advocate with our tool kits
• Signposting clients to other services where required
• Supporting the service to deliver “collective” advocacy sessions
• Light Touch Advocacy
• Supporting advocates with casework
• Promotion of services and the organisation
• Logging activity onto our systems

Citizens Advice Bureaux are local, independent charities that provide free and confidential advice and information whoever you are and whatever your problem. There is a CAB in almost every community in Scotland, across almost 300 locations, helping more than 260,000 people each year.
The RAF Association is a member-led, welfare charity that exists to ensure that all members of the RAF community are supported, when they require it.
Our Connections for Life service entails friendship telephone calls from volunteers to beneficiaries within the RAF community who maybe experiencing loneliness, adapting to life after service or just looking for a general chat.
We will provide you with all the necessary training so you can rest assured that you will have all the skills you need. As a Connections Volunteer, you will have the support of a dedicated coordinator as your point of contact.

Dyce & Stoneywood Community Association is looking to recruit volunteers to help us with our programme, These opportunities are:
• Running exercise classes such as Technogym: Technogym is a light exercise class with the use of machines to help people of low fitness get back into exercising. You will need to go through a 2 hour training session for health and safety. These classes run weekly and you will be working alongside another volunteer to help with running the class and cover.
• Movie Club: We run a monthly movie club and would require someone who enjoys movies to help run this for us.
• Youth Activities: such as Lego club and potential summer and holiday activities. PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups check/scheme membership) will be required.

In this lead, but flexible volunteer role, you will be the key contact for fundraising in your local community. We will offer you the opportunity to chat about what skills and availability you have to support us in this role.
A fundraising group coordinator, with the support of others in the team and a Guide Dogs fundraising manager, helps to organise and sometimes attend events, encourages local businesses, schools and groups to name their own guide dog puppy, builds relationships with local networks and most importantly, by giving their time, make a real difference by helping Guide Dogs to provide life changing services to people living with sight loss.
The main role of the fundraising group coordinator is to be responsible for coordinating a group of volunteers, with the support of others, to raise funds through events or other activities, delegating tasks to other members of the group as required and being the key contact in the local area.

Aberdeen in Recovery (AiR) was granted Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) charitable status in March this year. We are now looking to find talented, passionate and skilled people to fill some vacant seats on our Board of Trustees to help us grow and develop our innovative and solution focused new charity. This is a unique opportunity to help lay the foundations to ensure AiR has a long-term future as a charity with solid processes in place to ensure it meets its mission of:
“To be a bridge from ‘dependence’ to ‘independence’ for the individual seeking to recover from problematic substance use and addictive behaviours”.
This is such an exciting and invigorating prospect for individuals to get involved and be participant in the tsunami of change which is now gaining momentum and being driven by “Experts by Experience” and the vibrant Lived Experienced Communities which are blossoming, not only locally but are now established as a national phenomena.
Since its conception, AiR and its members have worked tirelessly to establish and build collaborative relationships with professional services and third sector support agencies. We have consistently driven the message that individuals who have personal lived/living experience of active substance use, including Family members who have been affected by the addictive behaviours of a loved one, and the Recovery Communities they represent have something valid, essential and extremely beneficial to bring to described Recovery Orientated Systems of Care (ROSC). We can provide existing services and clinical structural systems with resources, skills and capabilities that they, no matter how much effort, time and money they invest, will never be able to offer or provide.
So, it gives the greatest of pleasure to see this is now recognised on the highest levels that “Recoverists” can productively contribute to the design, development and delivery of truly person-centred ROSC. This being evidenced by the vision, philosophy and content of the Scottish Governments “Rights, Respect and Recovery” Drug and Alcohol Strategy.
We also believe it is reaffirmed by the recent success in being granted funding from the Government’s National Development Fund, with our principle partner Alcohol and Drugs Action (ADA), for our ‘Recovery Peer Pathway’ joint two-year project. This collaborative venture will build on three years of pilot work to further establish and build proactive and productive Developmental Pathways within ADA and their Volunteer network while in synergy with AiR membership for individuals who desire to initiate change in their behaviours and outlook as they progress on their recovery journeys within, and imperatively out-with, statutory and formal support services.
We believe that the blue sky thinking behind this project categorically and emphatically fits with the expectations, outcomes and concepts of the above Government policy.
So, if you have lived experience, or a stakeholder interest, and a passion for recovery and are willing to give of yourself that another may learn, you will not find a better opportunity to indulge your appetite than from within Aberdeen in Recovery.
