Cafe Volunteer

  • IFDAS River Garden (South Ayrshire)

We appreciate and value the support given to us at RGA by volunteers. Our volunteers help and support our residents, garden, social enterprise projects and charity to grow and develop. They become part of the community, which is at the heart of River Garden. If you are interested in catering, you can volunteer at our Bothy Cafe. Some of the duties that you might enjoy doing are: - Serving customers - Washing up - Baking - Cooking - Supporting events - Retail "I was only in for a cappuccino and a scone and, nearly a year later, I am still here! I have found my “vocation” as the dishwasher! Yes!! The simple but absolutely essential dishwasher. The friendly, appreciative residents who have become friends make my time at RGA a very happy place and I consider myself very lucky to have found this wonderful and life-changing community." - Elisabeth "Having visited River Garden Café after reading its rave reviews, I decided to pay a visit to the grounds and Café. It did not disappoint. Being a coffee and cake connoisseur I was delighted... The customer service was excellent and everyone was so friendly. I chatted away to staff, volunteers and the residents, who were all so keen to tell me more about the project and share their stories. I decided, without reservation, to become a volunteer and hoped they'd accept me. I was delighted when they did, and haven't looked back since. It's such a lovely place to work. I'm part of the bakery team and also work front of house a couple of times a week. Being part of such a wonderful and happy team gives me a real sense of belonging. It brings fun and fulfilment to my life and connects me to my community." - Sandra

Volunteer

  • PDSA (Ayr Shop)
  • One-off volunteering

Urgent call for volunteers to regularly help at the charity shop or more sporadic support as needed. Volunteers are involved in a wide range of roles and day-to-day activities that support the running and upkeep of each shop. On the shop floor you could be involved with providing excellent customer service, processing transactions on the tills, replenishing stock and putting up eye-catching displays to entice customers in. Behind the scenes, volunteers get involved with sorting through donations to find those hidden gems and preparing goods for sale by sorting, steaming and pricing. A few hours a week could make a difference. PDSA positively encourages volunteer applications regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, adults at risk and all our colleagues and expect everyone who works for us to also share this commitment and to treat people with courtesy and respect. To support this commitment, our recruitment & selection processes are robust and rigorous and all appointments will be subject to satisfactory references and appropriate background checks.
