Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival

A non-profit organisation that concentrates on bringing musical excellence and spontaneous creativity to the heart of Edinburgh, we are committed to supporting Scottish musicians and to link them with international musicians. During July a full programme of live Jazz, Blues and Swing concerts are delivered across the city, opening with free events the Mardi Gras and Carnival which bring the streets alive.

Current opportunities

11th - 22nd July - As a volunteer you will be an integral part of the team at each venue, supporting the festival staff with artists, venues, audiences and members of the public. By committing to volunteering we expect you to do a minimum of 4 shifts across the ten days (a shift can last on average 6 hours). Roles include: Ambassadors, Concert & Artistic Assistant, FOH & Box Office Assistant, Technical Assistant, Drivers, Photographers, Mardi Gras Support.

11th - 22nd July - Assisting stage manager, lighting and sound engineer with various tasks in setting up the stage for performances and clearing it after acts, Helping artists with instruments, sound checking and lighting focusing, Setting and resetting auditorium spaces, Loading and unloading backline equipment, Keeping backstage area tidy.

11th - 22nd July - Meet & Greet Artists when they arrive at the venue Preparing artist dressing rooms, Prepare artist catering, Support the Artistic Liaison Manager with artist requests and needs, Seeing artists offsite, Being available during rehearsals/performances to assist artist requests, Support the concert manager with box office duties, Ensure the concerts run smoothly and to time, Prepare the venue with FOH team, Work of the Merchandise desk following performances.

11th - 22nd July - Festival Ambassadors will be the face of the Festival Hub. Meet & Greet Audiences, Giving directions around the Teviot building Promoting the festival in Bristo Square (Within Underbelly Festival site) Learning the knowledge of the festival and being an information point for members of the public, Being of assistance to the front of house team to answer questions when required, Distributing brochures around Teviot and Bristo Square.
