Buchan Dial-a-Community Bus

Buchan Dial-a-Community Bus provides transport and an escorting service to and from appointments. Volunteers drivers use their own cars to collect and return clients, to and from appointments.


Current opportunities

The Volunteer must have an outgoing personality, sense of humour and an awareness of disability needs. They must be reasonably fit, and while previous experience would be advantageous, it is not essential as full training will be provided. Duties include assisting passengers on/off bus and while vehicle is in motion; accompanying passengers to destination and after journeys (where necessary), and other related duties as required from time to time.

The Volunteer Drivers Service provides a transport service to Social Work Services - particularly the Children and Families Team - within the Aberdeenshire area. Volunteer Drivers will collect, transport and return clients (children and adults) to appointments, meetings, clubs etc. Confidentiality and a good rapport with people are essential, as is an easygoing personality and a good sense of humour. Experience in th voluntary sector would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be given. Support and supervision will be on a regular basis with the Co-ordinator. Must have car, full driving licence with at least three years driving experience. A good general knowledge of driving within the local area is desirable, and you must be a good timekeeper.
