St. Ronan's Edible Garden

Our aim is to inspire, motivate and build confidence in adults/children of all ages and abilities to learn how to grow their own food to promote a healthy lifestyle. To encourage the Community to prevent food waste, reuse/recycle and to reduce landfill/carbon footprint. We provide sessions to show people how to grow, harvest, recycle, composting, propagating, soil preparation, solar power for growing, food preservation, seasonal planting, bugs/pest control, eco warrior info/carbon footprint and food waste recycling.


Current opportunity

To help maintain a Community Garden with the opportunity to harvest organic fruit and vegetables when they are ready to eat. To improve your health and well-being and gain confidence in growing food. Role Description Our volunteer work involves weeding and preparing the beds and ground for planting; watering the garden and polytunnel; pruning and propagation of fruit bushes and fruit trees; mowing the grass; planting seedlings and re-potting plants; harvesting fruit and vegetables; filling up the water butts; tidying of sheds/tools; recording harvests; preparation of veg/fruit boxes; harvesting the orchards; topping up compost on beds; rotating the 3 compost beds; helping others in the garden; sharing knowledge and ideas to improve the garden; reporting any damage to the garden; help with fundraising.
