Current opportunity

Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a place where people with a visual or hearing loss, their friends, families, carers and the wider community can access quality services and advice from our partner organisations. The Centre is inclusive, accessible and aims to promote the involvement of the wider community and build positive relationships across Forth Valley. The Centre are looking for some enthusiastic volunteers to help out with their Friday evening youth group. The group runs from 6-9pm and is split into two parts; 6:00pm - 7:15pm is the younger youth group. 7:30pm - 9:00pm is the gaming group aimed at a slightly older audience. Volunteers are welcome to come to either or both parts or to drop-in for however long is possible for them (for example, 6-8pm). The role is flexible, that can be adjusted if required. The group runs every Friday, however there may also be the odd Saturday activity (subject to funding). The hours for this would depend on the event. Experience with youth work, BSL (British Sign Language), and/or individuals with sensory needs is greatly appreciated, but not a requirement. Being friendly, patient, enthusiastic and willing to get stuck in, are the traits that are the most desired. For both groups, the volunteer would be asked to help set up and clean up, if required, and to involve themselves with the group's activities. Keeping an eye on proceedings to ensure everyone has full access and that they can have fun in a safe environment. The Centre is fully compliant with all Scottish government Covid-19 restrictions.
