Recyke-a-bike Clacks

Charity registered in Scotland SC036713

Recyke-a-bike is more than just a Stirling based re-loved bike shop. We started in 2005 as a job shop and quickly developed into a charity who focuses on the relief of poverty and improvements in health, education and the environment, through cycling. We’ve grown to include training services and cycling outreach work with the public, schools and private groups (such as educating lorry drivers on the dangers of being a cyclist), in addition to our bike recycling and well stocked shop.

With regards to our aims, we want help our local community by supporting people into employment, education, training and volunteering. We benefit the environment by helping more people to choose cycling for low carbon transportation, and stopping bikes ending up in landfill. Recyke-a-bike initiatives better the health and wellbeing of our patrons and partners. We want to remind everyone that cycling is great fun and can do wonders for people’s mental health. Put simply, we really want to get more people into work and more bikes into the community.

Our shop can cater for any age and ability of cyclist. If it’s your 2-year-old granddaughter on stabilisers, your adult son who is crazy about road bikes or you’re just looking for something to cycle into town on we have the bike for you. Our shop is open Monday to Saturday 9-12 and 1-5 and our friendly staff will be happy to find you the perfect bike for you.

Current opportunity

As a bike charity based in Stirling, Scotland, Recyke-a-bike (part of Fallin Community Enterprises) are dedicated to promoting cycling as a sustainable and accessible means of transport, fostering community connections, and empowering individuals through their various initiatives. From selling recycled bikes to providing cycle training and offering an innovative employment and training programme, they have been at the forefront of creating positive change for almost 20 years. Now, they need your help to take their mission to the next level! Currently, Recyke-a-bike have two exciting positions available on their Board of Trustees: Treasurer and Trustee. These voluntary roles offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of the organisation, contribute to strategic decision-making, and to play an essential part in enhancing the cycling experience for individuals across the Forth Valley. As a Trustee, you would have the chance to participate in diverse discussions, share your insights, and provide valuable guidance on the overall strategy of the organization. Your passion for cycling, community development, or any related field would enrich in their decision-making process and help create a lasting impact in the area. Their Board of Trustees meets bi-monthly, offering a convenient schedule that accommodates busy lives while still allowing for active engagement and meaningful contribution. Through these meetings, you would collaborate with like-minded individuals, each bringing their unique skills and perspectives, to collectively drive our charity's mission forward. By joining their board of trustees, you would become part of a supportive and passionate community that shares your love of cycling and the power it holds to transform lives. Together, they continue to sell recycled bikes, provide cycle training, develop their employment and training programs, and embark on other exciting projects that benefit the Forth Valley (and wider) communities. So, are you ready to make a real difference? If so, then please enquire about joining the Board of Trustees today! As Treasurer, you would be the financial steward of our charity, ensuring that resources are managed efficiently and transparently. Your expertise in finance, budgeting, and financial planning would be crucial in maintaining the sustainability of their operations and supporting the growth of our initiatives. Recyke-a-bike have a Finance Manager and Operations Manager who you would work closely with you. They will be doing the day-to-day financial tasks, so they would look for a Treasurer who can assist with supporting these staff members (when required) and giving experience and vision in line with our development as an organisation. Perhaps you’ve volunteered in a similar role elsewhere, or worked as an accountant or bookkeeper? Then this role would be fantastic for you. If you prefer a broader role then please consider our Trustee position. Within this role they are looking for a forward thinker, who is enthusiastic, motivated and brings ideas to the table. Candidates would be dynamic, communicative and have great skills to offer.
