East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action

The East Dunbartonshire Third Sector Early Years Network was established to bring together third sector organisations involved in or having an interest in the Early Years sector in East Dunbartonshire. The purpose of this Forum is to work on common issues, share knowledge, experience and best practice.
The purpose of the Early Years Third Sector Network East Dunbartonshire is to bring together third sector organisations involved in or having an interest in the Early Years sector in the East Dunbartonshire local authority area, to discuss issues of common interest, share knowledge and experience, and identify areas of good practice around issues of Early Years.
The Network will provide a stronger voice and greater representation on relevant issues with statutory agencies, through engaging in participative consultation.
Members of the Network will be encouraged to, through the auspices of the Network, seek to influence the planning of relevant statutory services for the East Dunbartonshire local authority area.


Current opportunities

Purpose of role: Social media platforms are a great way to connect with those who use EDVA's services and the wider Third Sector community. We also use social media to offer volunteering opportunities for many local organisations. As a marketing and social media volunteer, you will play an instrumental role in supporting the team to maintain EDVA's social media presence. This will include promoting local volunteering opportunities, information from EDVA staff and other local charity & community organisations, and generally keeping the community updated You will also play a key role in the development and growth of our overall social media presence. This could include exploring additional platforms and being creative and innovative with how EDVA delivers their content going forward. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to gain experience while supporting a local service to grow and maintain its social media platforms and presence. You will be led by the EDVA staff team and given training around their services to support you in your role. Key Activities Support the day to day updates/posting of information on Social media pages Manage the social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Work with the team to create and post useful and creative content that will engage with current followers and grow their presence Lead on the development of new social media platforms and campaigns Keep up to date with awareness days/weeks and promote internal and wider community information/events/campaigns/recruitment Use social media to gain feedback to help grow and improve their service Ensure compliance within relevant organisations policies and procedures Promote social media pages to relevant agencies and those who use their services

Volunteers are sought who could commit to either a part time (morning or afternoon) or full day sessions. The role of the volunteer would be to signpost an attendee at the Covid booster vaccination service. The vaccination centres will be based in Milngavie Town Hall Tuesday, Thursday and Friday as well as Sunday from 8.30am until 7.30pm and Kirkintilloch Town Hall Monday, Wednesday and Thursday as well as Saturday from 8.30am until 7.30pm. The volunteer role would include: • Review attendee’s letter of appointment and ensure they are attending at the correct time, date and location. • Support what is likely to be a flow of people at the venues by advising when they can proceed from the venue car park to the reception area, and advising the attendee on queuing arrangements prior to proceeding to the reception desk. • Supporting those in the queue and updating the attendee on any delays to the scheduled appointment times and advising them how long this delay may last. You will receive a full induction, including a health and safety briefing with the details of your role discussed prior to any agreed commitment.
