Current opportunity

Frame running (formerly race running) originated in Denmark in the 1990s. It is an athletics event in which individuals with impaired mobility can walk or run using a special running frame called an ace runner. The running frame is a 3-wheeled frame with handlebars, a chest support and a saddle, but no pedals. Both children and adults take part in frame running, and train for track events from 60m sprints to 1500m events. AAAC are looking for volunteers to help with frame running sessions on Mondays, 4.30-5.30pm at Aberdeen Sports Village. Volunteers will provide 1-to-1 support and encouragement to athletes and help deliver the training programme developed by the lead coach. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary; the club will provide training and mentoring. Knowledge of basic bike maintenance would be helpful. A fantastic opportunity to help and all assistance makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated. For more details please contact Ruth at email: pathways@aberdeenaac.co.uk
