Forth Valley SFAD

Charity registered in Scotland SC034737

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is a national charity supporting anyone concerned about a loved one’s alcohol or drug use. We were set up by families themselves in 2003, who came together to support each other and campaign for recognition. Every person with an issue around substances has a family and in many cases it is their family who is their main source of support. Despite the vital support that families provide for their loved ones, families often don’t know where to turn for support for themselves and can struggle with emotional and financial pressures. Problems with alcohol and drugs exist across all walks of life but there remains a huge stigma which prevents families from seeking help. We work with these families providing listening and emotional support, signposting and dedicated services such as our one-to-one support over the phone, family support groups or our bereavement service.

Fundraising is a vital part of what we do and without collecting donations big and small it would be very difficult for us to carry out our work – will you help maximise fundraising opportunities for Scottish Families? We are seeking enthusiastic, committed individuals who can represent the charity locally and act as an ambassador for our work. You will learn or develop your skills in grassroots fundraising, turning pennies into pounds and making a vital contribution to our annual fundraising targets. If you are looking to build your experience in fundraising, events assistance and networking this is the ideal role for you. Fundraising activities will include • Building relationships with local businesses. • Finding homes for our collecting cans • Helping with events such as bag packs, information stalls and sporting events • Working as part of team with other volunteers or working on your own depending on nature of the event No experience of fundraising is necessary as we will provide full training as well as regular catch ups. Following an informal chat for the volunteer to get to know the organisation a two hour fundraising training session will be held. The volunteer will then have one staff member who is their pint of contact, they can get in touch at any time and will also get regular face-to-face catch ups.
