The No 1 Be-friending Agency

Current opportunity

We are looking to establish a new The No.1 Befriending Agency Advisory Board initially for a 6-month period as we work through a reflection and review process and develop some new plans for the next 3 years of The No.1 Befriending Agency Role Description 2024 is a 'pause and review' year for The No.1 Befriending Agency. In the seven years we've been doing what we do, so much has changed. Securing finance to sustain our social enterprise on a year-by-year basis has become increasingly difficult. The Independent (July 2024): reports evidence that people are becoming lonelier and in facet ‘lonely deaths’ epidemic is sweeping the UK. We need to undergo a period of reflection. We want to specifically look at three key areas: How we establish financial resilience to do more and forward plan with confidence How we develop the organisation while bringing joy to our volunteers and team How we maximise and market available resource to amplify our mission With this in mind, we are looking to establish a new Advisory Board to help us. This will initially be for a 6-month period as we work through a review process and develop some new plans for the next 3 years of The No.1 Befriending Agency. It is a voluntary position and most meetings can be held online so that we can respect your time and get the most value from your commitment to us. This opportunity is open to all, and we encourage anyone who has an interest in what we are all about to ignore that pesky Imposter Syndrome voice and put yourself forward. We have no idea what kind of response we will get, but please know we may not be able to offer an Advisory Board position to all who apply. We envisage the Advisory Board will comprise around 5 to 6 people. We will aim to curate a group that is as varied and diverse as possible, with the aim of assembling a collective that we believe will deliver the maximum benefit to The No.1 Befriending Agency If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the coordinator by email or phone call. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the organisation with the contact details provided. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org.
